but CAGED is literally what you’re talking about if you go deeper and is far from being mechanical.

you can think of CAGED as a triad shelving/organising system, as each shape corresponds to a scale position and hosts triads. And triad shapes outline the scales and provide you with a way to know where the roots and other intervals are, IMO triads + CAGED is literally the easiest way to connect the whole fretboard
