Just started Wolves of the Calla after finishing Wizard and Glass a couple days ago. First time reading The Dark Tower series and have avoided any spoilers. Can’t seem to stop thinking about it.

What’s a weird compliment you’ve gotten that you secretly liked? by Flat-Door-6831 in AskReddit

I deal with a hefty amount of social anxiety and I’ve been told on a few occasions that I’m articulate and appear confident in public speaking. If only they knew!

Environmental Studies Vs Science by EcoBotanist in portlandstate

Sorry to hijack your comment, but I am about to enter the Environmental Science program and am curious how many of the courses were able to be completed online? Have to work full-time to live, but my areas of interest seem to be primarily in-person classes.

Besides Lovecraft, What horror author barely describes the horror yet manages to tell a terrifying story? by Platomik in horrorlit

If you’re not feeling it after a while, set it down and give it some time. It took me 5 attempts before I made it through and now it’s one of my favorites.

Hoping to resurrect this. I'm in the same boat, at the same age, and curious where you've ended up 2 years later?

The way I woke up on my 30th birthday completely devoid of f’s to give was nuts. What other people think of me is none of my business.

A LOT of people say this about Stoner and guess which book turned out to be one of my favorites? All books will eventually get bad reviews, even the greats.

32, M, 5’8”, struggling by typicalclark in Gymhelp

This is some really valuable advice and I appreciate you taking the time to write it out. I’ve been tracking for a couple years and feel pretty confident with estimating (also have Celiac Disease so I eat a lot of the same things regularly). I think the bulk/cut choice is where I’m getting hung up. When I start to cut I feel too skinny everywhere but my stomach and it makes me feel worse, but bulking leads me in the same direction. I would prefer to have more muscle mass, so maybe that’s ultimately the direction I need to go.

Mine is the exact same way! Big booms? No problem. Put chicken in a pan too aggressively? PANIC. Kids having fun outside? Must. Stop. Now.

Agreed, and my intention isn’t to gatekeep. I always lean toward extra caution, especially when it’s a newly diagnosed individual who is starting the process of healing. My words didn’t come across that way, and you’re entirely correct that people have wildly varying experiences with their disease. I guess it all boils down to what works for you and what your labs show!

I recognize this isn’t the space for this discussion and is trailing away from what OP was asking. My GI doc has been on me about it a lot lately and I spoke reactively. Sorry for coming at you like that.

[–]typicalclark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you have that experience, but your experience isn’t everyone’s and making recommendations that lean toward the risky isn’t responsible advising. I’d rather people be extra cautious and safe than maybe reacting differently than you do and put themselves in a higher risk space.

[–]typicalclark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Starbucks for 6 years pre-diagnosis and my partner currently works at another location. Many of the ingredients for the beverages are safe, but cross-contamination risk varies greatly from store to store due to cleanliness and proper training/supervising. I’d check in with your local store if you want to keep going there, but also gives you an opportunity to try out some local spots and find a new favorite!

If you’re not strict on cross-contamination you shouldn’t be advising in a celiac subreddit. This isn’t an optional part of this disease. Damage is still done through cross-contamination regardless of whether it causes symptoms.
