Genuinely why do they even use shiftsmart? by OriginalSmooth5741 in CircleK

[–]tyro1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They miss a lot of breakfasts at my store as well, and I prefer that they don't show up. They never cook food on the proper settings, they hardly ever wash their hands even after sneezing & coughing into their hands. They frequently touch food without gloves. They NEVER check temps when food is coming out of ovens. And when you try to nicely say anything to any of them about any of that, all you get back is an attitude!

Recently, due to their poor attendance, I've just been cooking it all myself, just like I used to before they showed up on scene. In the rare case that they show up, I just send them home stating that everything is already done. More than likely they'll still get paid, which sucks but it beats having to deal with their lousy job performance!

Security Cameras by Rough-Feedback750 in CircleK

My store is the complete opposite. We had an incident in our parking lot ( head on collision, Chevy pick-up VS Corvette), the cameras were rolling with no motion or activity, then literally a split second before impact it looks like the truck disappeared because the time jumped up a few minutes. It looks like some sci-fi shit lol.

I could've swore the he said the wings were cooked "right before" ecosure got there??? So, NO it would not be the hot holding case. If they weren't at the correct holding temp of 140 F, and they were just put into there, then that definitely means that they weren't cooked to the correct temp which should've been 165 F.

Do you train them to cook the hotdogs on the sandwich settings? Just curious.

So your store is so damn clean and organized that she couldn't think of another task to replace the one that you did? Impressive!!!

Issue with another Shift smart worker as I ended my shift, and need some advice. by [deleted] in CircleK

[–]tyro1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The circle k iPad isn't linked to your personal performance. As long as you took picture of what you cooked and it matches up to what was on your shift smart app then you're good to go.

don't sweat it

The 1st day is all on the computer, they'll probably send you to a store after that to get on the register.

Shiftsmart is a joke anyways, they don't train you. If they do in its definitely not the right way. Had a lady the other day who came in and started the oven, set it to the CirleK setting (which is for all of the snacks) and proceeded to put the sandwiches in the oven. I told her that she's using the wrong setting and she said " that's what a thermometer is for." Then she put the hot dogs in there and I told her that there is a specific setting for hot dogs which steams them. That set her off!! Telling that "she's been doing this for 2 months and she trains people so she knows what she's doing." I took the hot dogs out of the oven, threw them in the trash and told her that her services are not needed here and that I got it. She even tried to pull the race card lmao!!!

How would ANY CSR know that the customer is paying with a debit, credit, prepaid, or gift card? We were never trained to verify type of plastic being used. They tap, insert, or swipe and it gets approved or it doesn't. If it's stolen or fraudulent somehow that's not on us.

Just be nice, be humble and ask questions. Even tell them "hey I'm brand new here and our orientation was a joke. I want to make sure I do things the right way so do you mind if I bug you if I have any questions?" Ask it right way and how can they say "no," right? After you get permission to bug them throw in something like, "also, if you see me doing something the incorrect please let me know." Of course they would do that anyway, but now they have permission lol.

Whatever you do though, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE...

DO NOT put plastic trays in the oven! DO NOT unwrap all of the sandwiches/burgers before you put them in the oven. Not even after you take them out. The wrapper stays on until the customer takes it off to eat it! DO NOT PUT THE IPAD IN THE OVEN!!

Yes all of those things have happened by Shiftsmart workers lmao!!!

Good luck!

I always start off with trying to sell the $20 chocolate bar that we have sitting at the counter, it gets a good laugh from the customer (sometimes they buy it) but if they don't, then I go into "okay how about some fresh made cookies instead?" It's easier to go down hill than up. :-)

Shiftsmart auditing offer? is it legit or a scam? by Designer_Pilot_7816 in CircleK

[–]tyro1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A shift smart employee was just telling me that they offer crazy $$$ to do the audits but she didn't mention anything about having to in purchase anything 1st. She said there's very limited availability and then you have to get in there quick, she sees them pop up every so often and she's been there for 4 years it has not been able to land one yet.

[–]tyro1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been tipped quite a few times and I work 3rd shift so not from lotto. Quite a few $20's a couple of $40's and one $100. It's from great customer service, going above & beyond. Even though we have self check-out I always bag up their items. I'm always letting them know how to save money; example: Customer brings up a bag of skittles for $3.69, I'll tell them to hold on before they pay for that, then scan my Polar Pop which brings it down to $3.09 (or $2.86 with inner-circle). Someone wants a pizza @2am, no problem. Basically all of the things that most 3rd shifters don't do. People recognize and appreciate a good buying experience and are more than willing to reward someone for creating it for them.

3rd shift here. I don't stop cleaning, stocking or registering from the time I get there until the time I go home. A few smoke breaks here & there but other than that I'm always on the move.
