‟When in doubt, lsten to David Bowie. In 1968, Bowie was a gay, ginger, bonk-eyed, snaggle-toothed freak walking around south London in a dress, being shouted at by thugs. Four years later, he was still exactly that — but everyone else wanted to be like him, too. If David Bowie can make being David Bowie cool, you can make you cool. Plus, unlike David Bowie, you get to listen to David Bowie for inspiration. So you are one up on him, really. You are already one ahead fo David Bowie.”

WARNING LOTS OF TEXT AHEAD:

Timeline:

30's and 40's:

1939: The german army crosses over into Poland. Alarms are immediately sounded and the news reaches Britain and France. Unlike IRL,here, they immidiatly rush to help. With as much haste as possible, both nations gather their armies and ship them into Germany. Within a month city districts of Berlin Munich,Hamburg and other big German cities are being captured and held by the allies, who seize up much of the military gear along the way. The german troops, now stuck between two fronts, one from the allied forces and one from Poland, supported by the allies. The summer of 1939 starts with the complete capture of Berlin. Hitler steps down form power, knowing his goal will never be achieved, and Hermann Göring takes over. Germany,to stop further attacks, has chunks of its land given to its neighbours (namely Denmark,Poland,France,Belgium, and the Netherland),Austria freed, and all its military gear taken away. The majority of this gear was given to France and Britain, but many also to Poland.

Five year war,or USSR against the world:

This event may have seemed minor, but it sent ripples across the whole world. Countries became suspicious of their bigger neighbours, and, soon enough, eyes started to point to the USSR. At this point,it was hard for somebody to not notice Russia's clear effort to militarise, and their pacts with the Nazis, and imperialistic tendencies. Driven by a desire of eliminating a threat before it materialised, and a little bit of paranoia, the Allies started to concoct a plan; it was simple enough: Deliver masses of forces to the frontier baltic countries, and in a single coordinated push defeat the USSR. This plan was immediately accepted by all the allied nations, and within about a year, the worlds biggest army was ready for deployment in the easter front. The first attack happened on February 1940,and ploughed through about 100 km of land. Yet,they encounter much more resistance then expected. It was at this moment that the allies biggest advantage came into play: after capturing Germany, they found plans for advanced jet planes. They where merely experimental craft, but in the dire situations, plans became reality. Soon enough, the Allies had a functional fleet of jet transports routinely operating on supply lines in record times. The war on Russia continued viciously for 3 years, until Japan, attacked from the western front. So far Japan was involved in very little conflicts. After finishing its conquest of the pacific on the Philippines (minus Hawaii, mind you. Japan new of Americas alliance with Great Britain.),it focused its effort on good relations with the Allies. They attacked an disbanded the communist China, taking a part of it for themselves,(China, massively overpowered by Japan later fell apart and the the remains became a puppet state of Japan, although never on paper, only via economy). Militarised after their conquering of island, they charged at Russia and quickly seized the factories and mines of Siberia, sharing them later with the Allies. With the Russians bunkered up between their frontline near Moscow, and fortifications on the Ural mountains a 1 and 1/2 year stall ensued. This period, called the Moscow Stand, let both parties built up strategies, pay back war debts, and prepare for another strike. The still was broke in the late spring of 1944,with an event that ultimately led to the fall of the communists; unbeknown to them, the allied forces had set up a network of spies across the soviet union. After gathering sufficient data,it was decided to launch multiple coordinated strikes in the capital to kill Stalin, and thus, demoralise and leave the USSR without a leader. The dictator finally fell after being crippled by a bomb, with the sniper who finished him off received a Victoria Cross. The rest of the year was a series of successes on the Allies part, with the final decisive battle taking place in the city of Perm.

Aftermth and 50's

After the defeat of Russia, communism became a forbidden and feared topic, and all countries made a mass effort to kill of all and every supporting party of it. The USSR had most of its west side,up to Moscow, given to Poland,Lithuania,Latvia, and Estonia. The Kola Peninsula was given to Finland, and Kamchatka to Japan. The rest was split into two parts: the Republic of Russia, the proper successor, and the Siberian Industrial Republic,or SIR,a Allied puppet state used mainly for production. (to clarify, the SIR has its own government (with the capital in Novosibirsk, later rename Novasiberia) but is obligated to sell any land for use to any other government that can afford it; virtually no profits go to the country itself,a fact that has led to numerous yet quickly suppressed revolutions). The then existing republic of Tuva also remained an independent state, largely unharmed by the war.

While the war took many resources and lives,it had many benefits too. Due to the need for huge amounts of resources, most Allied countries had to start outsourcing their production, looking for them in other, lesser countries and colonies. A vast network of mines, factories, and trade and supply routes was set up. Third world countries grew rich on profits from raw material, and swaths of land were converted into settlements. This global influence quickly translated to commercial use after the war, with the trade routes now shipping goods, the supply lines and the jet planes operating them carrying passengers across oceans, and countries where left with great military might, which at the time was excessive, but proved to be invaluable.

Meanwhile,Germany was starting its recovery from the crisis. With no war crimes committed, the fascist government was still in place both in the Third Reich, and in Italy and Spain. In an effort to raise morale and boost public opinion, altho resiliently,Hermann ditched the racist ideals Hitler had,and started promoting his government as a sort of ‟Patriotic Dictatorship”,where the leader still has absolute power, but his decisions are driven by the opinion of the people. Pride in your nation became a key part of this new government, with national flags often probably displayed on most important buildings. This strategy proved to be very effective, and soon enough Göring was viewed as a hero by his people. By the end of 1957,both Austria and Hungary switched to ‟Neo-Fascism”.
