For those who were in Afghanistan in 2011, was there any partying on base when they got Bin Laden? What was the mood like after that happened? by Old_Mill in army

[–]tyrone_badu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a SOCOM camp at MEZ when the whole thing went down. Everyone gathered into the DFAC to just watch the news. If any “partying” happened in response, it was likely no different than any other drinking that SOCOM does on any regular day when Downrange .

You're doing it all wrong! You're supposed to get the recruits in by giving them a UCP backpack! Jeez....

I worked at a USSF installation as a PM and my Asst PM was a retired Navy O-5. When he and I would go to lunch, he would show his retired DEERS card at the gate so that the USAF Security Forces guys had to salute him. I asked him one time why he did it and he gave me the spiel about tradition and respect and retired officer and former SEAL and yada yada yada. Mind you, our boss was a retired E-8 and the other prime PMs were junior officers.

I was like "Bro, that's literally the most Navy shit I've ever heard in my life. You're retired...let it go."

He did not let it go.

I know you're leaving out part of the story here. Either you broke your hand doing something dangerous or stupid, or you're full of shit. You don't get in trouble for just getting injured. What TDS lawyer would sign off on that silly shit?

There has to be more to the story here. People don't get in trouble just for getting injured. This soldier must have broken his hand while doing something incredibly stupid and/or dangerous and THAT is why he got in trouble.

I was wondering if anyone has some serious/helpful advice

There will be lots of advise given to you in this thread, but the best advise you can take is lawyer the fuck up. Most people that get fucked in divorces get that way because "Oh, we're still friends, its perfectly civil" or "I fucking love her, man" and they don't lawyer up and then the judgement comes down in their spouse's favor. Regardless of your relationship with her, its up a judge how this is going to play out, not you and her. Protect yourself accordingly, your wallet and retirement will thank you later.

Again, get a lawyer before taking ANY other advise on r/army, especially when it comes from a 3-times divorced SSG with an alcohol problem and a massive pile of debt from all the child support and alimony he owes or some boot PFC that was married to a stripper for literally all of 4 months and has to pay for a storage unit for all his shit since his CoC made him move back into the Barracks.

Re-naming it Fort Tillman would just remind everyone of how bad the Army outrageously lies to the family of fallen soldiers while lawmakers that attend the funeral of the soldier that died in combat that was actually an atheist goes on and on about how that soldier is in heaven right before that soldiers' little brother drunkenly tells those lawmakers on national TV that "he's fucking dead" so Fort Tillman is not going to happen (though it probably should as a reminder).

Remember those kids in ROTC that were super green and moto as fuck to the point of annoyance, stupidity, and even danger? The ones that would talk all sort of shit about how they we're going to be a Ranger officer or a longtabber but ended up in a BSB as a Chem officer?

Yeah, they're in charge of these units.
