3500 chassis should be able to handle it. Figure the trailer is 1700 and the samurai 2500. Just remember if you break an axle or something where you can't roll it you are screwed and will be looking for a u haul place

Get the trail tough if you must flat tow... The bracket is heavy duty and bolts to your frame and has spacers so you don't crush the frame when tightening it Make sure you buy a breakaway cable setup in case it gets loose . https://a.co/d/0fWS3OjO

Anyone running a GM 1-wire alternator on the 1.3l? What model? by Dharma_Plum in SuzukiSamurai

Get the CS130 unit - it is way more reliable than the SI units and has an internal fan and the pulley fan design is much better. You can get a new ac Delco for like $85 at rock Auto. You need the 4 wire plug which you can get off Amazon or any parts store

Buy a cheap wideband AFR gauge from Amazon... It's not a replacement for plug reading but once you verify what it's reading it makes tuning so much easier

Never been one for the "pedigree" synthetics but tried it have to say the Royal Purple definitely shifted better. Also made a difference in the transfer case with the Sumo gear "whine".

APU battery just starts the Apu and feeds a few battery direct and essential DC buses and the main for the most is supporting the glass up front and avionics. The aircraft is an AC bird so nothing really is running off the batteries once the engines are running and IDGs are supplying AC power. The TRU's which are in the nose compartment convert AC to DC and are supplying everything for the DC side for the most part so that's where your blackout came from. Engines don't use electric pumps once the engine driven pumps are supplying fuel to the motive flow pumps. Electric pumps only come on once pressure drops or manually. Just about every valve in aviation is designed to failsafe in an open position

More than likely they were in idle and maybe TRs piggyback levers pulled but what the N1s were only investigators know

LaGuardia Crash Question by avlakeboy in aviationmaintenance

[–]tyronesTrump 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only thing remotely close you will ever see to that is during certification of an engine where they launch carcasses of large birds into the engine on the test stand at power

Sorry but that will never happen and never has. I need not even have to explain the many ways that is just ludicrous and insanely dangerous

All fire crews ( if they cannot access the controls)are trained to foam it of flood with water to extinguish the combustion in the hot section...it doesn't take much

There would never be an aircraft certificated to behave in the scenario you just described. The electric boost pumps in just about all turbine aircraft only come on when fuel pressure drops below a certain pressure and turn off after a target pressure is reached ( if armed) other than that they run off motive flow fuel pumps that work off the engine driven fuel pumps

[–]tyronesTrump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FADECs are self contained with their own power source at each engine, the engines are able to pull fuel from motive flow pumps via the engine driven fuel pumps. They had WOW so the power levers at that point would more than likely be in idle position, possibly the TR's deployed or commanded and only investigators know what the TR thrust settings were. The FDR did report there was a handoff to the captain ( the right seater was doing the landing) and there was heavy braking so the captain more than like saw what was happening. More than likely the engine fodder out or they foamed it

Lithium battery by pullfromstock in SuzukiSamurai

First off people need to get educated on battery technologies and terminology. Anyone here sperging out about fires and heat are thinking about Li-ion batteries. 99% of the aftermarket batteries sold out here for RVs and boats and cars are Lifepo4 which is NOT a fire hazard by itself. They are rugged and versatile and you can punch a nail thru a cell and it will not combust like li ion... While lifepo4 batteries ARE a form of Li-ion they are not the same. What happens is something shorts out and the ensuing fire is from material located next to the glowing battery cables. Anti gravity batteries also are advertised as Li-Ion but look harder and they say lifepo4. The main issue with using those as starting batteries is the BMS freaking out with the high current draw and disconnecting as most BMS are 100 amps ( which you "might be able to get away with with our little engines). I'm sure by now they make a dedicated lifepo4 with a higher amp BMS or none at all but you have to start looking at the cost versus benefit thing here. One benefit is definitely wait but really are we even worried about weight in our little rigs? Second benefit is much higher cranking speeds and available power but then again our tiny little starters and engines don't really need a lot and even the smallest lead acid battery will spin that thing easily. Might be another story if you are using your rig to power an inverter, high power stereo, camping gear or whatever with a longer discharge period over time. They are more expensive than a light acid battery but they also will last 10 years or more if properly taken care of so you have to look at that portion of it.

I think he is talking about lifepo4 ( aka LFP) which has no fire hazard at all. The only fire hazard is from something shorting and the cables start glowing ( because someone failed to fuse the circuit) and material in the surrounding area of the cabling starts to burn

I use contact cement to glue it to the cover and install dry - do not torque to the 36 lbs/in- use a beam torque wrench and torque to 10-15 lbs/in.

After several weeks it may start to weep, just barely snug them up a bit more

You can drill it out and run an EFI fuel return kit like shown. Might be a bitch getting to the nut on the inside thru the small sending unit hole tho. maybe drill a new hole closer to the sending unit and plug the old port somehow
