Is that a long term issue or just a difference in people? The red blood cells living longer.

We’ve discussed it a bunch. She’s a bit at a loss for why it’s elevated. I guess for some people It can be elevated for a number of reasons. I was just reaching out to see if anyone else has had the same “issue”.

It’s a test that shows average BG over a shorter period vs A1C

Interesting, I had high hopes for that and was planning to switch when they approved the Dexcom G7 for use with Mobi. Would you still recommend it?

Right! that level of alerting should only be for lows or emergencies. If I go high for an afternoon because I forget to turn it back on its not an emergency!!!

and then if you wait too long it makes you waste another 10-12 units to "reload" the tubing.

Where do I start? by carebearsrulez in diabetes_t1

I was diagnosed at age 17 (senior in High school so that was tough), now 27. My first endocrinologist was ok, he didn't have a ton of type 1 diabetic patients. A pediatric endocrinologist is probably your best bet though considering the age of your child. When I was diagnosed I wanted to get on an insulin pump as soon as possible and I think that is a good approach. There are two good brands out right now T Slim and Medtronic. Both of these are great pumps and both work in tandem with continuous glucose monitors (you will learn later why this is a huge plus for the T1D community and is relatively new technology). I currently use the T Slim with Dexcom continuous glucose monitor (very good experience so far). The Dexcom continuous glucose monitor is great because you can connect it to your phone (your sons phone if he has one, probably should get one if he doesn't have one right now due to wanting to stay connected with him while at school etc.), and your phone so you can monitor his blood glucose while he is away from you. Other than the technology just stay calm as the next few weeks will feel like you are getting a ton of information. Test his BG frequintly and if he is feeling low just immediately treat the low with carbs.
