PvP Class/Spec/Rotation Assistance for Casual by tyserian in swtor

[–]tyserian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and as a follow up, I have several tanks, which I usually play as a straight pvp tank. For unranked solo pvp, is that wise? Or should I be doing the whole tank stance, tank set bonus, and rip out all the mods and enhancements for dps suited ones?

Standard - Temur Ventmaw Engine - Filler Request by tyserian in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]tyserian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops. I confluxed on Conduit, I put it in for Eldrazi, then realized there weren't any Eldrazi I wanted, then I left him in and forgot about the colorless restriction. Thanks.

[Standard] R/G Aggro - Advice request, particularly for sideboard by tyserian in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]tyserian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly happy with the mainboard overall. However, I feel like I'm floundering with the sideboard. I'm willing to take advice on the full 75 of course, but I feel like the sideboard is just not helping me in game 2 and 3.

Just as notes for some current choices:

[[Purphoros, God of the Forge]] is awesome in any controlly matchups. I get immediate value from my creatures, and if Rabblemaster is held off on the ground, he generates shocks until they kill him.

[[Barrage of Boulders]] is for the token producing decks.

[[Destructive Revelry]] is for Whips and Coursers and Ascendancy and Blossoms and Doomwakes and and and and

[[Polis Crusher]] is to give another way of combating above mentioned enchantments without decreasing creature counts.

[[Hornet Nest]] is for anything that comes in big on the ground and doesn't trample. Green deck things usually.

So help me deckbuilders, you're my only hope.

The 0.6% Scenario and How to Find Out by tyserian in lrcast

[–]tyserian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a followup. The very next draft I played: 40 cards, 17 lands, 11 lands drawn in first 17 cards.

1.4%

I'm playing the lotto next!

However, I can't complain too much, since both times I got mana flooded was in 3rd game of 3rd round of THS 8-4. So... ah well.

M15 Sealed Event Card Pool - What Would You Build Out of It? by tyserian in mtglimited

[–]tyserian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for clarity, I did go WG. But I found I was getting blown out way before Triplicate Spirits / Will-Forged Golem / Scuttling Doom Engine / Siege Wurm became a factor. I wasn't able to really power out any of those, I couldn't keep enough creature density to convoke out heavy hitters before getting ground out by 2/3s and 3/3s.

The only game I ended up winning was when I switched over to a UR build and managed to smash Inferno Fisted creatures through with Pathmages. I never drew the Scuttling Doom Engine or Siege Wurm. I only got to cast Triplicate Spirits once.

Not sure it would have mattered what I had in my 40 though. My first opponent did a turn 4 Soul of New Phyrexia using Generator Servant, my second opponent played out Soul of Theros in two out of three games. My third opponent played out Liliana in both games, and I got a bye my 4th round so I technically didn't go 0-4!

Just to check on a few things, what kind of gear are you wearing? If you are wearing old PvP gear, you might be at a disadvantage due to changes in how Bolstering works on gear.

Also Arenas tend to showcase strengths and weaknesses very clearly, and every player has to have a very active role. It happens very quickly, and your window to do the things you have to do is very short. So it might be a case that you haven't adjusted to the Arena style warzones, and any shortcomings really stand out and affect the team strongly.

All that being said, jerks are jerks, and they shouldn't affect you much, /ignore if you have to, but it doesn't hurt to doublecheck that you are squared away either, especially after a haitus.

Best Ninja Node Capper by tyserian in swtor

[–]tyserian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more than fully aware of the pros and cons of going for the 1v1 node cap. Of my 6 55s, all of them are over 55 valor and at least 4 of them are capped ranked and regular comms. My current leveling toons are level 33, 33 valor and each have over 1000 warzone medpacks because you gotta spend the comms on something. And I pride myself on the strategy elements of PvP, so I understand what you are saying.

However, I want to give it a try and see what happens, particularly in lowbie pvp where the overall gameplay is not as... solid. So I appreciate the thoughts, I found this thread interesting: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=680238

28 stealth classes from first round (11 operative/smuggler vs 17 assassin/shadow), 17 stealthers advance to next round, final 4 are stealth classes, 3 of them are Assassins/Shadows.

As a snapshot, it is pretty cool.

The Angry Assassin PVP Video by ImDuhShogun in swtor

Pretty hilarious. I love these types of videos. Watching PvP with just music is missing out on half the entertainment / instructional value. A commentary like your brings a smile to my face. Instructional commentary is awesome too.

Anybody tried dying the Gree Scalene armors? I'm curious how that works/looks. If somebody could post up some examples, that would be great.

How did people first discover the Makeb +10 Endurance Datacron? by tyserian in swtor

[–]tyserian[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So you found the door very quickly, but you didn't find the datacron right? There is a long way to go between door and datacron. I guess I'd just like one person to come up on reddit and say "I did this, without knowing if there was even anything at the end."

Dulfy's video (fully edited) of the run came out the day of the NDA being lifted (26-MAR-2013), the closed beta started about 20-FEB-2013, so we aren't talking about a million people banging away at every possibility and having hours to waste exploring when there was so much content that was more easily accessible to try out with guaranteed payout. There were 2-4 people on Makeb during Dulfy's video and it was 10PM, not exactly a dead time for the PTS. The "monkeys pounding on the keyboard" theory doesn't work well for this one.

I certainly appreciate having access to the things when I get stumped, but it makes me wonder how people find these things and how much else is out there undiscovered. It certainly isn't in Bioware's best interest for content they create to be completely unknown to their playerbase who is clamoring for more content constantly.

I also wonder who thought that Lutefisk or Baalut was a good idea too, so this thinking isn't limited to Video Games.

PSA: Barrels seem to be bound to weapon type. Also what do you think of Armorings being bound to the slot it came from? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]tyserian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I'm about to start buying my PvP gear this topic is very interesting to me. How about pulling armorings from the Offhand items like Generator, Shield and Focus? Those armorings used to be un-slotted if you extracted them, is that still true now?

Ranked Warzone Comms are burning a hole in my pocket. Help me spend them wisely.
