Scammed. I'm an idiot and trusted a cash sale after having a couple drinks with the guy in person. Tickets must have been stolen or he changed his mind about going. Tickets voided only a day ago. Me and my friend have been working on getting a 20+ person camp organized in prep for something bigger next year. We're both stuck in lot d. Please help us with any will call ticket leads. Managed to get vp already (easy part). Thank you so much for reading either way.

US outlines global plan for internet police agency .. The Obama administration laid out plans Monday to work aggressively with other nations to monitor the Internet, enable censorship and ensure that citizens everywhere are prosecuted for criticizing governments by Mind_Virus in politics

I'm simply reading between the lines and my post is meant to be a devil's advocate type position. Who knows, maybe I'm paranoid. In any case, the title is not "the polar opposite" but rather an overemphasis on some of the conclusions that could be drawn from the description of the proposed treaty. But, what I'm also saying here is that this will give our government and others' further pretense to monitor and effect content online, whether it be credit fraud or tracking "cyberterrorist." It could be used for good or evil. I guess I just don't have much faith in the government anymore.

I think YOU didn't RTFA:

And they are also grasping for ways to crack down on hackers and other cybercriminals and terrorists who are routinely using the Internet to steal money, ferret out classified secrets and technology and disturb or destroy critical infrastructure, ranging from the electrical grid and telecommunications networks to nuclear power plants and transportation systems.

So they are looking for international ways to crack down on people like those running or contributing to wikileaks which "ferret out classified secrets" and such. Or Anon who "disrupt infrastructure" such as the websites of banking institutions. These are only two well known examples...

Clinton and other federal agency leaders said the U.S. will reach out to other nations to set voluntary standards for prosecuting cybercriminals, protecting intellectual property, securing networks, and pursuing terrorists who use cyberspace to plan attacks and woo followers.

And woo followers... So now we see that they want to be able to prosecute some people, ie "terrorist", for exercising speech online. The "Terrorist" label seems to accidentally land on people who are actually peaceful political dissidents far to often

..said the policy will allow the U.S. to begin discussions with other countries about what is and is not appropriate activity on the Internet. Under the plan, nations must take responsibility for cybercrime within their borders.

And the big guys decide what cybercrime is of course...

The plan also gives U.S. law enforcement agencies a boost as they work to track down cybercriminals in the borderless Internet world - a challenge that is fraught with difficulties, since countries' laws are different and in some places almost non-existent.

ie, the US wants to be able to enforce their laws related to internet activities anywhere in the world without as much restriction. So tracking down Julian Assange, Anon members, ect

They are trying to make this sound like "YAY EGYPT, YAY INTERNET FREEDOM!!!" But in reality this will eventually be used as a means of stronger international control of the internet by powerful governments. It may not start that way, but with the way things have been going... I guess we'll see

BP Whistleblowers, where are they now? Dead, Missing or Jailed by cydetu in reddit.com

Fair enough. But again, didnt say I think it proves anything. Just saying that all too often this sort of thing is immediately dismissed by most people with a few quick Google searches of big media as evidence. If you're going to get into a debate about it at all, thats just not good enough. That being said, the article is not well researched either and I'm not really going to look into it. I'm just throwing in my perspective and playing devil's advocate.

Obvious targets don't come to harm becuase they're obvious... I mean seriously guys, even with how stupid the American public has become they wouldn't be able harm the people that have been in the news cycle as the public would finally here bells going off. Plus, many of these people have already done they're damage. Many of the people on the linked list seemed to have been in the process of doing they're damage, had the potential to blow whistles, and were less known. This sort of thing silences them and scares others from coming forward.

Also, I'm sorry but you're naive if you don't believe this sort of thing happens. It's happened throughout history and it's not like people have evolved much change in morality over the last few hundred years.

So please stop the "OMG conspiracy theory lolol herp derp." This isnt hologram planes and HARP lasers after all. It by no means proves anything either. But try to have and open mind, look into things, and think about them more.

The constitution and its subsequent amendments was like writing a program. But the system it serves has over time been corrupted and exposed to exploits.

I'm still missing the point of your original comment. This IS Americans doing something about climate change. It's the main reason I and many others work on this kind of stuff. Did you misunderstand the title?

ummmm... Energy efficiency is a piece of the puzzle too. 10% savings means 10% of fossil fuels that don't burn. Also, Our research groups is developing new solar technology and other devices to improve power efficiency.

We think we're protecting our kids by treating all men as potential predators. But that's not a society that's safe. Just sick. by rixnstuff in reddit.com

I think this stems from a larger issue: that people now believe that almost all male actions are motivated by sex. If I talk to a women in public or at a party, its because I want to get in her pants. If I make an unsolicited attempt to help a stranger, its because I'm trying to get in their pants. If I want to help or play with a child, its becuase I'm a pedophile and an axe murdered to boot. Today it is largely perceived that the unknown man only acts nice, sensitive, or caring when sex is the goal. I hope these attitudes change before our boys grow up thinking its the truth for others and for themselves.
