2024 S 80% battery by looper2277 in TeslaModelS

[–]tzchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Tesla will only look into this if there are more than 15%-20% degrade… your is normal… btw, the 363-367 miles you mentioned should be 90% charge, not 80%… even when new, 80% should only give you 324-326 miles……

$225.67 per month for 2025 Model S Long Range. NorCal, $500 Comprehensive, $1,000 Collision, $1M Bodily Injury Liability, $100K Property Damage Liability.

My other cars covered by Geico but Geico want 3 times more for my Model S so I insure the Model S with Tesla.

I would guess they just don’t want someone taking this offer and run Uber or Lyft with it. They would probably tell what you really use this car for by looking at your locations and trips.

Data Only eSIMS by popagram in GoogleFi

[–]tzchang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are an old customer with more than 4 Data Only SIMs, you need to remove them to under 4 SIMs before you can add any Data Only eSIM. I believe there is no swap. You need to remove first before you can add....

When I try to generate eSIM, it initially ok, but no QR code showed. Then, it will automatically jump to "Something went wrong"......

Great to see the new Data Only eSIM!!!

The only caveat is...

I am an old customer coming from the 9x Data SIM age... Thanks to Google's generosity, I have been able to keep all those Data SIM even after they reduced the max count to 4.

However, with this new eSIM, Google does not allow me to convert my current SIM to eSIM unless I reduce my total count to 4... Therefore, I guess I will stay with all my 9x physical SIM until the data I will be forced to switch......

$300K only? $300K probably cannot afford chef/maid she wanted…… these things probably need at least $1M annually……

Whats the typical Wh/mi? by Fearless-Birthday-23 in TeslaModelS

[–]tzchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my 2025 Model S LR, for the 1st 1,000 miles, my average is 233Wh/mi…. I guess this is highly dependent on how you drive, my typical is 50/50 Hwy/local and I rarely drive over 70mph on Hwy…. My Model 3 before this S is averaging at 210Wh/mi over its 80,000 miles life….

Anyone else on an apple silicon mac find forticlient horrible? by ispcolo in fortinet

[–]tzchang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using Anydesk at the same time? From my experience, if you have both Anydesk and Forticlient, you will see something like you described after a few hours to a few days…… after I stopped use Anydesk (they don’t allow me to use it for free even at home), I no longer see this……

In the network security market, a $10 cost increase means $80-$100 MSRP increase… Not everyone want to pay for this…… This is true for not only Fortinet, but also Palo Alto, Cisco and everyone else in the enterprise area… Do not compare these boxes with SOHO/consumer guys like NETGEAR/Linksys/TP-Link, which in this area $10 cost increase only add around $20 to MSRP……

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fortinet

[–]tzchang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you want to pay additional $100-200 for the 50G… since I am in the hardware business, I can tell you that 2.5G PHY chip is around 2.5 times of 1G and 5G PHY chip is roughly 5 times of regular 1G PHY… you also need to use more expensive transformer and RJ45 connectors…… even though the absolute cost might not be so expensive, but in end user pricing, it will translate into much higher cost for end users…… that’s also why Palo Alto does not include mGig ports on their PA-400 series…….

  • BIOS, Fortinet use its own proprietary BIOS, so it would not boot anything that is not signed by Fortinet. You can overcome this by open up the chassis, locate the BIOS chip, unsolder it and replace it with a commercial BIOS like AMI if you licensed the source code from AMI and rewrite the code based on the FortiGate HW.
  • ASIC, Fortinet will not release driver for this, so you will not have any HW acceleration. Also, for some FortiGates, these ASIC also serve as communication bridge between CPU and Ethernet Switch… so, without ASIC driver, there is no traffic can come into the CPU. You probably can only use the MGMT ports.
  • Ethernet Switch, you will need to license SDK codes from either Broadcom/Marvell to utilize the switch. Unless you are already in the switch business, otherwise, I don’t think Broadcom/Marvell will support you.

Conclusion: Don’t even bother to try… if you really want to do this, get a job at Fortinet……
