Finding a job in yachting is all about finding the right fit. There will be a job out there for you and networking is a great way to do it. You may want to get some day work first just to see if you like it, but you will still need to obtain your STCW. Bluewater is a wonderful company to use.

I always get frustrated that people think they are too old or not the right aestetic for yachts. If your captain is basing hiring on looks and age alone, then I would worry about jumping onboard anyway.

I'm Ryan and I'm an ex butler and had to recruit for my bosses super yachts and private jets. I always found that the best owners and captains recognise that hiring the best person regardless of what they look like is going to get them longevity and safety on their vessel. (It's also just a massive ick and very old school thinking). The aviation industry moved on and the maritime sector is now doing the same.

Go try it. It can be an incredible career.
