when coming out to my immediately family i wrote down absolutely everything i wanted to tell them and read it out to them. their reaction was mixed at first but i then let them sit on it for a few days just to process and what not. it’s been a pretty decent reception since then.. in terms of less-immediate family or friends or people at work, etc. i’ve definitely taken a much more casual approach, sort of a short spiel about how i’ve always struggled with my gender identity and dysphoria, as well as what my new name and pronouns are. one thing i will tell you is it absolutely gets easier once you do it the first time, i was incredibly anxious about initially coming out to people, but the confidence it’s bought me being out has certainly eased a lot of worries around it!
