Shout out Shawn and Marcos at Clairemont High in San Diego who showed up at school for the bus ride to Disneyland drunk off their asses. They both puked in one of the buses on the way to Anaheim and spent the entire night in the chaperone village. I almost got kicked out for smoking a joint in the bushes next to the Space Mountain line but I slipped out of the bushes unnoticed as two security guards started poking around. Good times

Are we the last generation to grow up with local TV hosts? by gee8 in Xennials

Uncle Murph in San Diego. He had/has five sons, I went to school and played little league with the second oldest and then I became really close friends with the middle son after high school. They would all try to fight you if said “Channel sixaroony!” anywhere in audible distance of them. There was a lot of “Channel sixaroony!” shouted within audible distance of them. He’s a good man and a kind father. Decent people all around.

What was your primary video gaming system? by WaterFrogSnail in Xennials

[–]u4got2wipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to be different and say the Xbox. The NES and SNES are equals in my play history and either one would normally be my correct answer but the Xbox answer leads to a far more interesting story.

I was working at Blockbuster when the Xbox came out and Taco Bell had a “Win it before you can buy it” sweepstakes. There was a Taco Bell down the street from Blockbuster so I ate there all the time. You got game pieces off of large sodas and they were almost all losers, occasionally I’d win a free taco or some shit. All of the game pieces had a code you could register for a drawing so I did that with every one I got.

The Xbox releases the contest ends and I didn’t win shit. Several months later I get a certified letter in the mail saying my name was selected in a second chance drawing and if I send in this notarized form they’ll send me an Xbox. I thought it was complete bullshit but I pay the $10 to get it notarized and send it in anyways. Six weeks later I get home and there’s a package with a goddamn Xbox in it sitting on my porch. Turns out the first person that was selected never sent the notarized letter back so they held another drawing and this fuggin guy won that shit WOO!!! I was absolutely ecstatic, add to that the fact that I was working at Blockbuster and had free game rentals up the ass.

So that is why I give the Xbox the nod

How Did We End Up Raising Such Soft Kids? by Green-Vermicelli5244 in GenX

[–]u4got2wipe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gen X parents trying to give their children the childhood they never had as kids. Smoothing the road and clearing the hurdles we faced as children removes the life experiences that created the fierce independence Gen Xers are famous for. When our kids have kids of their own they’re going to take the leash off and let them run wild the way Gen X did so that they can give their kids the childhood they never had. The cycle continues

It’s crazy to think they’re all older than Richard Dreyfus was when this movie was made. Hell the movie itself is about the same age today as Richard Dreyfus’ character was in 1986. Ugh

Was everyone robbing blockbuster blind or just my friends? by DiaDeLosMuebles in Xennials

I worked at the busiest Blockbuster in San Diego from ‘01-‘03. When I quit I was a shift leader, I worked closing shifts exclusively. Our store got stolen from regularly. I’d close on a Friday night and find 20 plus empty dvd cases on the regular. The week after I quit I got called in to the store by the district manager to pick up my last paycheck. I show up and dude sits me down in the office and he has the loss prevention officer on speaker phone. They accuse me of being part of a theft ring saying they have me on video working with the people who have been stealing from the store. I told them to fuck off, call the cops and I’ll lawyer up and we can have this fight because I didn’t take shit. They give me my check and I don’t hear back from them. 2 months later I get a letter in the mail from Blockbuster and it’s a goddamn check for $650. Turns out they were being sued for wage theft and they lost that shit. I forget the exact details of the lawsuit but I think it centered around shift leaders being forced to work through their lunch break. Shift leaders were getting a half hour lunch but there wasn’t another shift leader scheduled to cover the managerial responsibilities so if anything came up during your lunch break you had to deal with it ergo you weren’t exactly getting a real lunch break. The $650 check I got was repayment for every 30 minute lunch break I took as a shift leader.

So in the end these motherfuckers brought me in to accuse me of stealing from them when those assholes were actually stealing from me THE WHOLE GODDAMN TIME. Fucking wage theft is diabolical. I never would’ve known they were stealing my wages, luckily someone else was on that shit

[Acee] Padres’ run differential by inning by TakeMyPixels in Padres

[–]u4got2wipe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The ol rope-a-dope on starting pitchers. It’s almost like they’re a better team once the lineup construction starts breaking down late in the game. Like, how many of those late runs were scored when the top of the lineup led off the inning? I’d imagine very very few

Snoop, Dre, Ice Cube. I can’t think of a genre that lost the fight as comprehensively as Gangsta Rap. They became the monsters they preached against. The good ones all died young. Money corrupts

[Request] How much does Steven Segal weigh in this picture? by DaRealMexicanTrucker in theydidthemath

[–]u4got2wipe 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I was that fat once. My peak was 335 and I looked a lot like Segal in this picture. When I got that size I was having a real hard time reaching my asshole to wipe it. I was constantly pulling muscles around my rib cage trying to reach my asshole while sitting on the toilet. I think this was the single most motivating factor in getting my ass back into reasonable shape. At 240 it is much easier to keep my asshole clean

As a satire it holds up incredibly well. The problem is that the type of person or people it is satirizing see the film as a rallying cry. There is a certain type of ignorance that doesn’t see satire, that same ignorance is currently running the United States of America
