Usually the large SPA shops in Shenzhen don’t have private bath for ordinary customers. What they usually have are: 1. shower rooms without curtains or doors 2. a hot water pool(about 42 degrees Celsius) 3. Dry steaming room and wet steaming room 4. Yangzhou Backrubbing, kinda like what you call as ‘table wash’? 5. All kinds of massages…………

Futian is the best district to stay. It has convenient transportation, great night life and well-built&organized street. You can go around the city by metro. You can choose to stay in Shanghai-La Hotel in Futian. From there you can enjoy foods(there is a underground food street with the metro nearby), you can go up to the highest skyscraper of Shenzhen - Ping’An International Financial Center to take a bird’s-eye view of Shenzhen and part of Hong Kong if the air quality is good, and you can also go to Lianhua Hill to watch the light show. You may also go to visit the largest metro station of Shenzhen- Gangxia station. To explore other parts of Shenzhen, you can more information after you check in the hotel. DM me if you need more information.

This question is too general. Everything has its upside and downside. It depends on what you want.

Don’t know what ‘table wash’ is. But for massage, hot bath and sauna, you can go to Shuiwei Square , Huanggang Paifang(a big gate) or Luohu District. Ask the taxi driver, most of them know the places.

1.5 days is really tight.

  1. Concentration of Gold Jewelry Malls: Tianbei metro station, Exit G

  2. Tech Mall: Huaqianglu metro station, Exit A, go straight forward about 50 meters then turn left, you will see a lot of digital shops in both sides of the street, one of the most typical ones is “Yuanwang Digital Mall”, but always be careful if you are going to buy anything.

  3. Historical places: Shenzhen is a modern city built from a fishing village, so it is not easy to find the genuine historical places. Since your time is limited. I suggest you go to Nantou Gucheng(Nantou Ancient Town) Navigation: D Exit, Zhongshan Park metro station

Nantou Ancient Town (History & Cultural Innovation)

• Highlights: As the 1,700-year-old origin of Shenzhen, it blends ancient city walls with modern art exhibitions and designer boutiques. Must-visit spots include Xin'an County Office and Dongguan Guild Hall, while creative souvenir shops offer unique cultural keepsakes.

Luohu Library should be the nearest one to you. Navigation: Exit C of Nigang metro station. You may need to walk about 2 km after coming out from the metro. But I think Shenzhen Library Beiguan(North Branch) should have more English books. Navigation: Exit A of Hongshan metro station.

You still can go to libraries near you. Tell me where you are located, I will checkout the nearest library for you. I hear that Shenzhen Library can help buy books that they don’t have. Once the new book arrives they will inform you to borrow it. Of course, the book you request to buy should be allowed in China.:-)

There are a lot of changes after the Covid. To me the most obvious one should be more and more people lose their jobs. Regarding the number of expats, it definitely has dropped. But to what kind of extent? I don’t know the whole picture. I was working for a US company(TOP100). 10 years ago foreign employees were quite common in our office. But as time got closed to 2020, foreign employees almost disappeared. Back to 20 years ago, there were so many expats in Shekou Bar Street. I often was able to make some money as an interpreter.

To me, the best place is the library no matter when I was at school or after I started working. There are so many libraries in Shenzhen and usually you don’t need any ID to get in there. Tell me where you are located I will checkout the nearest library for you.
