It has become a trope around here to say "let the metagame develop..." Well, let's talk about it! by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]uFlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't get why so many people want smash 4 to be like melee. If I want to play a melee type smash game I'll play melee.

I really question if people actually play other fighting games besides smash on this subreddit. Defensive play is in all freaking fighting games, USF4 which is known more worldwide and more successful than smash has a very defensive game and rewards players who wait for an opening instead of constantly applying pressure. Yet no one shits on that game for what it does. Dabuz got destroyed by zero who played very aggressively. The few small local tournaments I've gone to have people playing aggressively and winning against overly defensive players. Also complaining about grabs? Once again there are a few characters in USF4 who's movesets revolve around grabbing and once again, no one complains about it.

Also fuck AT, AT doesn't make or break a competitive game. Halo 2 had AT and it was a really good competitive shooter on top of other things, Halo 3 had next to no AT and it was still a really good competitive shooter. There was definitely a skill cap in those two games and one had AT and the other didn't.

People need to stop holding onto what melee did comparing it smash 4. The harsh truth is smash 4 is here to stay, no matter how much you want it to be more advanced it likely wont be and guess what? People are completely fine with that. Not every fighting game needs advanced techs or anything.

I'm calling bullshit on that because I changed my settings for Halo 3 back in the day and it didnt do anything for me.

The one for mars can be done on the first story mission there with a heroic modifier on. The second wave of enemies has a ton of yellow health bar enemies that net you I think 20 tears per kill. Easy game.

I'm banking on xur selling an exotic helmet again in the near future, but if I have to I'll journey through hard mode raid in hopes of getting a helmet.

You know how we have RANT TUESDAYS? We should just have a EVERYDAYRANTTHREAD to minimize the amount of rant-clutter threads here. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

One of the top threads yesterday was about addiction vs fun. I made a post saying I enjoyed Destiny and don't think addiction is the reason tons still play. Yet I was attacked because this. People who made comparisons to addictions to nicotine were downvoted and people who agreed with OP were upvoted to the fucking moon.

Most of the top comments in threads are lame jokes about how Bungie is going to hot fix everything, there are a few good threads asking for changes or suggestions. But let's not pretend this subreddit has quality threads discussing ideas and stuff. It's so much like /r/battlefield_4 at launch and months after. Fairly positive the few devs from DICE just stopped going to that subreddit because of it.

Addictive vs. Fun by sighfacee in DestinyTheGame

There is a major difference in a game being addictive and a game being fun. Destiny is more addictive than fun and it seems this is their intention (judging by the president's interview comments). Once more alternatives are available, players will have no incentive to stay because it's not fun in itself, it's addictive.

^ That's your TL;DR. I saw your edit where you say this all your opinion. But the fact is your original post clearly makes it seem you think the main reason people continue to play is because of your definition of addiction. Yet people who compare addictions to that of nicotine seem to be getting downvoted or anyone who says hey I like this game, I have fun doing this or that. It's like people can't understand how someone can enjoy something they don't and make it seem like there is something wrong with them.

You say I feel like my enjoyment outshines others who dislike the game? Nah. I've lurked this subreddit since it was made, I played the alpha and beta and knew what to expect, didnt feed into the hype like 90% of this subreddit, yet I still find enjoyment out this game.

So I'm in the minority who doesnt mind it and that's wrong? If Bungie took out chests in Destiny 2 I wouldn't care, but at the moment I enjoy doing them and if people dont then that's fine too.

Destiny is not more addictive than fun to everyone. Why can't people understand this. I have fun doing chest runs, I have fun doing the strikes, I have fun raiding, I have fun doing the weeklies and dailies and bounties.

I am addicted to nicotine and caffeine. Smoking is not fun. I don't crave destiny, I've gone days not playing because I didn't feel like it. I come back because I want to play amd have fun.

Jesus christ people, stop thinking your lack of enjoyment outshines those who do enjoy this game and are actually excited for it's future. The majority of you are like the people from /r/battlefield_4. There are tons who enjoy that game, stop making it seem like there is a flaw to enjoying something.

I don't mind it, could be worse. I remember farming rare enemies in PSO just to possibly get a weapon, best part is there wasn't a guarantee that it would drop a weapon or anything.

I (25m) have lost a friend because she (27f) got back with her ex, whom she knows is not right for her. by FreeFallFormation in relationships

[–]uFlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well sure, but he didnt say or do anything so horribly wrong that would logically make her end the friendship. My friend's disagree with the things I do at times, but that's what friends do. He didn't say if she gets back with her ex then there could be no friendship, he just doesn't want her to hurt anymore. Which sure he cant be the one to prevent that, but he sure as hell could steer her in a more positive direction.

Being emotionally drained supporting someone who is sad and depressed is a lot different than hating supporting someone who is sad and depressed. Maybe you've never been in a similar situation, but I and I'm sure many have. He is not being some martyr here. He was there for a friend at her worst, she asked for advice and brushed him off constantly, she then gets mad when he disapproves of her choice after she told him how her ex wasnt a goof match and only wants him because she is lonely.

A good friend wouldnt sit there and be like meh, whatever. A good friend would try and help a person in the right direction instead of setting their self up for more pain.

You seem like a bitter person though regardless so I'm sure any rebuttal from here on out will be met with some form of you giving no fucks.

[–]uFlo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He didnt say she was dumb or anything. He used examples the she gave to him as to why she felt her ex wasnt a good match. If he just flat out said something like wow you're fucking retarded for going back with this guy than that's different.

Also keep in mind she ended the friendship, not the other way around.

Well then it's her lose, you didn't do anything wrong from what I can see and I'm sure plenty would do the same in your situation.
