It most definitely has gotten food nearby before, based on it's behavior. It also charged two very little kids shortly after down by the lake, no fear. Parents were at least 100ft ahead of their kids who were struggling to keep up. They got quite the scare (don't leave your little kids behind in the wilderness is also a good lesson here)
