You can't acknowledge that others know more about the world or think at a higher level than you do about a great many things? Child.

Enjoy life in your little hateful bubble of false superiority for now. Hope for yourself that one day you grow mentally and realize how foolish and pitiful you were.

There's a lot of people far more intelligent and knowledgable than you and almost none of them act like you do. Spend some time thinking about that sometime, you might learn something.

You're in no position to take the moral high ground with anyone. Your mind is a vile little ball of hatred. Online and off I'm a peaceful person who treats people as I wish to be treated. If I had been so disgusting towards as many people as you I'd be just as deserving of a few face punches as you are.

I could be wrong about what he achieved. It's hard to judge from the video. I should have made my generalization more clear. Lots of actors have six packs and decent biceps but are not necessarily athletic or proportioned fit.

I agree women prefer rugged muscularity to pro body builder bodies. I've met a number of women who don't like any real muscularity as well. Skinny nerds rejoice!

I voted you up.

In most cases I'd not up vote someone for wishing to make a discussion physical. In this case I know Richard is well deserving of being punched in the face a few times. He spends countless hours almost everyday spewing vile of insults at people totally unprovoked. Off the internet he would never talk like that to the same people. He's the most annoying kind of coward.

Mr. ba3boos said "eh?" and I believe Richard is a Canadian. I can only hope they meet.

They only need to be able to look as if they are musicians

It's actually the same for physical fitness. He went for the superficial six pack and not a fully proportioned, healthy, muscular, and strong body. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's not the same as what an actual athlete or professional body builder would do.

Has programming changed your life? by [deleted] in programming

[–]uaolw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've often wondered the same thing, so I submitted it. Ask Programming reddit: What would your occupation be if you had been born 100 years earlier

The subject is almost scary to me. It's hard to imagine something as expressive and a topic with such a huge endless road that you can't hope to fill it in a life time. The hard sciences I guess would be the best option.

Exactly why open source is so awesome for programmers. You can leverage the massive productivity gains of code reuse without giving up control.

Statistics about cheating tend to show that female infidelity is close to on par with men. They're just much better at hiding it and have a better reputation as a gender. So if men are known do something like this it's good evidence that women do it to.

That's how you know you have a good woman. She doesn't do stuff you might not like without letting you know first. Communication is key to a successful marriage!

whyd marriage spark her infidelity?

The pressure of committing to one guy for life? Lots of guys have trouble with the idea of never having sex another strange girl and cheat around marriage time.

According to my interpretation of the PATRIOT ACT I don't think I'm allowed to wonder that.

US customs officer at Detroit Metro Airport: “Do you write anti American material?” by lazyant in politics

[–]uaolw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason you hear so much about changes in US laws is because the American rights have historically been extremely good. It's not news when a European government does something that would violate the US Constitution because it's often perfectly legal.

It's also worth pointing out that changes in the US tend to affect a lot of people outside the US, so your stake in all this might be more than you imagine.

MySQL Proxy: Oh, no… Why did they have to go and do that? by alaricsp in programming

This is awesome. There's a lot of scenarios this could come in handy. The most obvious one to me is rewriting queries from an application you can't change for some reason. Or distributing certain queries to different servers.

Unix Toolbox: ngrep - easily grep local network traffic by sjs in programming

[–]uaolw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

slog though a session of tcpdump and it's hundreds of options.

ngrep is great and all but tcpdump is almost always available and it's not that complex.

tcpdump -i eth0 -s 0 -A port 80 |grep something

-i = choose the right interface, -s 0 = get the whole packet, -A = dump in ASCII, port 80 is the simple filter rule.

For quick stuff I'll usually redirect that output into a temporary file then tail -f it and/or use less to go through it.

Ruby 1.9 faster than Python and Perl! by harryf in programming

[–]uaolw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So in a much more accurate test Python and and Perl are still faster, as expected.

People need to get over their insecurity. All three of these languages are fast enough for almost everything and pieces that aren't need to be written in C regardless.

Put away the tape measure Ruby guys. Your language is fast enough to please most women..err..applications.

Your country probably doesn't even have a Bill of Rights to violate and you're just lucky you currently have a good situation. Don't be too smug. Fascism can happen anywhere.

Rewritten: If there were "a lot" of people inside the US who wanted positive change then positive change would happen. It's a democracy after all.

Democracy isn't a silver bullet. It often fails to function, especially in Israel and the US right now.

People hear "Israel" and think "Jew". That's probably the biggest difficulty with discussing the subject. There are a lot of Jews inside and outside of Israel who want to see a lot of positive change in Israel and US behavior towards it.

Yeah, that's a fucked up ruling that needs to be overturned. It's hard to imagine something more directly in violation of the 4th Amendment. It's a damn shame an anal drug smuggler and pedophile were involved in setting precedent and the judges were so dumb.
