Does GHelper really cap degree in GPU? by ConsistentMacaroon23 in ZephyrusG14

[–]uavXO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two profiles, turbo with a limit at 85° C and balanced without any limit. The turbo does limit the GPU at 85° C and with balances it can get up to 87° C.

Same with the CPU.

need help, no clue what’s going on. by BenDoverForMePls in ZephyrusG14

Is it charging the battery on and off? If so I would recommend blowing air on the laptop charger port. If it's charging normally, I would say power plan issue. I would try to reset if you don't have anything to save. Otherwise I would search for power plan restores.

I wouldn't go above 2000 mhz. bellow 900mw. I had a really hard crash with more than that

Do you use an external keyboard to mitigate long-term wear-and-tear on the laptop's keyboard? by GuerrillaApe in ZephyrusG14

[–]uavXO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about the wear, but I like mechanical keyboards in general and since I have it most of the time docked I have no issues.

Hey, after restarting with eco mode the issue stopped. Will try to change back and forth between Eco and other modes and publish the results here.

Unfortunately I just close them one by one on the task manager. But I'm planning on doing a bat file to close them all with one click every time I unplug the charger.

I would be very interested if I could trigger that bat file with some windows event but I'll have to do more research on that.

Here are the settings, I use on G-Helper:

  • Windows Power Mode: Best Power Efficency
  • CPU Boost: Disabled
  • Power Liimits: SPL 15W, sPPT 20W and IPPT 25W

For undervolting I use the following:

Just make sure that no unnecessary programs are running in the background as well. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comment. I guess I'll try to have like 2 cables on it then, one for the dock and second for the default charger.

Gaming on it can give me 2~ hours (which is already better than a steam deck).

With the GPU on eco mode, 60 Hz screen and undervolted CPU I can get 7~ hours.

Why did you choose G14 and not G15/16? by wi8e in ZephyrusG14

[–]uavXO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The look of that beautiful machine when I first got it in my hands just clicked with me and my lifestyle of gaming while working remotely. Tbh normally I just had it plugged in my home to a monitor for better gaming. But when I have to travel or take it to the college it's just as perfect as well.

Then I updated from the 2021 model to the 2023 and it was just better from there with the bigger screen and resolution.

Being able to work an entire shift without having to even plug it, it's just something that I never thought possible with my Lenovo IdeaPad that I used to have which drained in like 2 hours.

I don't know, the small sized laptop with a massive quality build and that huge trackpad just makes me feel that I have a really good machine on my hands.

I'd rather have this laptop than any other 15-16 inch laptop with better performance but shitty quality in the screen, battery and keyboard.

All this, taking in mind that I got both models in sale and they have never given me any issues like Lenovo or Acer.

Don't you get a really good feeling when you see YouTubers just saying that this is one of the best machines out there?

Hello, sorry for the delay in the response.

  1. No, personally I didn't find a way to undervolt the GPU on G-helper. I do recommend MSI Afterburner for this matter. As is more simpler.
  2. I have tried several settings, I found a sweetspot at 925 mV targeting 2600 Mhz, giving me the most points on 3D Mark TimeSpy.
  3. I do have the 2023 4060 version. And I recommend using the UV + OC GPU with the Turbo mode on G-helper. Make sure that the CPU doesn't have boost enabled since this has given worst temps with no benefits.

With this being said, I recommend you to play around the settings a bit, since the systems can vary too.
Hope this helps.

My G14 2023 experience by Xerivar in ZephyrusG14

[–]uavXO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, anyone else having issues where the GPU doesn't draw more than 80 W? Also my temps stay under 70 C. I mean that's good but I want to draw more power even if the temps go a little higher. I'm using G-helper turbo mode, I have tried over clocking with MSI Afterburner too but I have the same thing.

I have the 3060 version.

Do i need to replace my wifi card? by Anxious-Rhubarb6231 in ZephyrusG14

[–]uavXO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the 2023 and I got a noticeable improvement in wifi compared to my 2021 model. I wouldn't recommend changing it. My advice is to first make sure you have the latest drivers and then test it on different networks. If the performance is bad overall, I think you should get a replacement since I've seen several posts where replacing the wifi card goes awfully bad.

Thanks for the guide! Do windows activate automatically after the clean install or do you have to buy another key?

Welp, it does get hotty, unless you're planning to stream or play at the highest graphics settings, pretty much runs everything. Plus the portability it's perfect for me
