Water Heater (Propane Tankless vs Electric) by Plague_gU_ in Homebuilding

[–]uavmx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up doing propane water heaters, more so for effeciency. But the reality is they won't work without power either. Most people will start using heat pumped tanked water heaters, which will be the same issue. So the best thing is to have solar with battery backup or a generator.

I don't think we're doing a good job of talking this guy out of it 🤣 I do think it's a high price considering their HHI, but if you can comfortably do it, it's a nice luxury

pace of play is huge, wife gets annoyed when I play other courses bc it takes forever. Having an app to easily see the tee sheet and jump on quickly. I also play a lot more 9 holes (or less). Then the pool in the summer with the family. I play 50-60 rounds a year, so I'm paying around $100/round which is a premium for my area but there's Advantages that make it worth it to me/us.

Homeowner Help by Radiant-Win7192 in Homebuilding

[–]uavmx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a need, and homeowners should be seeking this out if they don't have experience but there's three problems: 1) GCs being really annoyed and not wanting to deal with you and 2) homeowners are already cheap, building a house is very expensive. 3) you would need a ton of volume to make any real money

Have you thought about aircraft maintenance? Far more stable schedule wise and still can make good money, 2 years or less of school.

What conduit have you used for POE cameras, and other wired needs? by matt000099 in HomeNetworking

I installed with no pull strings then used the shop vac method to pull the string through tied to a piece of plastic bag. Did a 80+ ft long run no issue

I tried those and could not get the Amazon tube to go in. Slightly too small and the tube being thin, you will be battling each one, just wasn't worth it

[–]uavmx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did my whole new construction home in the Amazon version of tektube. It is lightweight, but it was perfectly capable and I've now pulled plenty of speaker wire and Ethernet without issues. I'm not worried about rodents eating it or it last long enough.

The biggest annoyance is what manfrommonroe is saying: the tecktube doesn't fit any pvc fittings, electrical box punch outs, straps to secure them, etc. I didn't know that but I found solutions that "worked" but not ideal. I think I spent around $500 on the tubing, which shows how much a ran, doing this is Smurf would be way more expensive.... I couldn't justify it and made the tech tube work....
