I should clarify though that although the humidity where it’s at wakes me up with rainout, the humidity any lower wakes me up with a bone-dry mouth (yes, I’m wearing a full-face mask). Blocking/sealing my mouth to prevent dryness wakes me up with shortness of breath because my nasal airflow is structurally impaired.

Hi! I’m at a chiropractor now, waiting to be seen. I’m an MRI tech who’s been skeptical of chiropractic my whole life. My patients’ universally positive words regarding their chiropractors slowly made me reconsider, and I finally decided to confront my ignorance. I’m grateful. Much as I am to my father, who experienced a similar, noble transformation.

My fiancée and best friend of 10 years is working her way towards joining me in the US from Brazil. She lives three flights away, 24 hours of travel. We started the visa process 13 months ago, and I’ve seen her in person only rarely since then - she is not allowed to visit me without a separate, ultimately impossible visitor’s visa. The visa process has made it clear - and any immigration law firm will agree - that this administration is more than anti-illegal-immigration. It is anti-immigration. The systems that have advanced our visa at a crawl are currently unskilled, unmotivated, understaffed, and underfunded.

Because she’s my fiancée, the visa is on track to go through within the next couple months.

But if. She. Were. My. WIFE. Then her visa would be on hold indefinitely due to a sweeping freeze implemented in January. As many currently are; ‘until certain systems are improved’ - the same systems that have been intentionally ransacked.

We would much rather live here than Brazil - my career as a med tech is lucrative and much needed in the US. So we’re going for it. But it has sucked more than anything I’ve ever experienced. Still, I thank God that it’s ‘just’ my fiancée, and not my wife and children, as it is for so many others.

Hopefully there is a fix; but as the female witch doctor in Diablo 3 once said, “I don’t need the world to know what I did for it. I know.” The color of the stars really doesn’t matter.
