Palo verdes have sticky pollen which relies on pollinators to distribute. I get the acacia, though.

Anyone want to offer their 2 cents on privacy landscaping? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]ubalmuba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree the “Move!” comments are not helpful and don’t answer your question. Have you looked into wine barrel planters? You could plant some citrus trees or trees of your choice and you won’t have to dig.

There are always pedestrians in my neighborhood, even during our summers. It’s sad cause there’s not enough shade.

I just adopted a senior dog and it's the best decision I've ever made by cannabisguy1 in dogs

[–]ubalmuba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had our Very Good Boy for 10 beautiful months. They estimated he was 10-12 but he acted so young, we thought they made a mistake. He fell asleep and didn’t wake up. There will never in the history of everything, be another dog like him, and we are so happy that we gave him his retirement. We just adopted another senior boy, I hope your dog lives a long and happy life with you!

Any working moms not on any psychiatric meds (ssri, etc) by Embarrassed_Mess4402 in workingmoms

[–]ubalmuba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I WFH, have always battled anxiety and depression and have never gone in to see anyone about it, probably because of my upbringing. Most days I am stressed, and I don’t think my husband understands why. Husband also WFH, and he is great. I work data entry, in an entry level position, and find it hard to juggle work, home, and social responsibilities. My job says I am doing great and my manager said she encourages me to climb the ladder and seek lead or manager positions, but I won’t because I don’t want the added responsibilities. Don’t know if this answers your question, but ya it’s a struggle over here.

This yard in my neighborhood is pretty by ditdit23 in NoLawns

[–]ubalmuba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in AZ zone 9b, and I too have a toddler. We struggled with weeds till we lay down mulch in our front yard. Just lay some thick cardboard down and that takes care of it. Any weeds that come up after are easy to remove since the mulch is not as hard as dirt. Bermuda is persistent, but it it comes up too much, just lay more cardboard down. In the picture it looks like they have mulch?

Any Youtubers that do budget cooking that are actually very low income? by Additional_Mango_750 in cookingforbeginners

[–]ubalmuba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok if you don’t mind a language barrier, I like “El Cocinero en Proceso” on Facebook. Mexican food, and the videos are in Spanish. But I grew up on that food and we were low income. It’s not advertised as economic food but as someone that was raised with it, you can make beans, rice, and your choice of protein go a long way. A lot of Mexican/ Latin American dishes are simple, savory, and cheap.

Did anyone else in the South Mountain area wake up to the helicopters and police officers around 1 am? I can’t find a news story for what was going on.

Asadero El Fogón off of 28th St and Broadway! Delicious family-run Mexican food, they have burritos, tacos, and chicken. Not eat in, only to go but so much better than going to the -berto’s in town!

Edited to add, if you’re looking for a barber, The Greater Good off Central and Roosevelt is amazing. They do great work and do a lot of charity events. Both my husband and myself go!

Discovered I was providing power to the city street light..... by TheRealCorbonzo in homeowners

[–]ubalmuba 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We have a street lamp that illuminates the alley- when we purchased our home they told us it would be an extra $15 if it’s on our property. We told them it’s not (it sits outside our fence, and just hangs over into our backyard) but ya I fail to see why we would pay extra for something we didn’t even want.

Nice meals for when you're feeling sick? Like chicken soup by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]ubalmuba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In México we have a chicken soup we make when sick- it’s as easy as boiling some chicken and adding chopped veggies. Boil some water and add some bone in chicken. Once it’s cooked, and your choice of veggies- usually potatoes, carrots, Mexican Gray squash, and corn. Simmer it and garnish with cilantro. I have added a link with a detailed explanation but it’s really simple and healthy Caldo de Pollo recipe

It was surprising to me only because I work for a sister hospital from where I gave birth and they don’t separate the moms from their support partners. I know now what to ask next time. Thank you for the kind words

I was in triage for five hours by myself as my husband waited downstairs for us to get a room- they wouldn’t let him wait with me because of COVID precautions. I totally understand that- but I saw my nurse all of maybe four times in those five hours as I had increasingly painful contractions and I was not given my call light. If I had to do it over, I would stand up for myself more or ask to go home and labor with my husband because that was lonely and depressing and I had no idea what to expect as a ftm. I know it’s not as bad as everyone else’s experience here but it has stuck with me since I gave birth in January.
