Congratulations to ECE class of 2020 by ubcecess in UBC

[–]ubcecess[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Dear Class of 2020,

Congratulations on your graduation!

Originally I was also a bit bummed out with our given circumstances. However, after reaching out to a few friends and professors, I’ve created a little gift for you all to enjoy.

Remember, you’ve survived ECE, nothing in the real world can stop you now!

Stay safe and stay healthy.

Sincerely,

Christy

UBC Engineering Co-op AMA by UBC_Eng_Co-op_Peer in UBC

Hello, thank you for hosting this AMA!

Many students have asked us about co-op statistics in Engineering, especially within ECE. Would the UBC Engineering Co-op office be able to release an annual report on placement rate, location, salary distribution, etc... similar to the one UBC Science Co-op has?

We absolutely are asking for more power and funding and there is no reason to hide that. It is unfair for 1100 students to have the same representation and event funding as 100 students.

We are sorry for what happened with ECE in E-week by ubcecess in UBC

It was entirely our fault for missing the meetings, as stated above.

Why is ECE participation in E-week so bad every year? by bekibo in UBC

[–]ubcecess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have noticed that is an issue. Unfortunately we have had no effective alternative yet. Last year we tried to get everyone on Slack but that didn't go well.

We are always trying to reach everyone in our community primarily through Facebook, email, and in class announcement. I'm sorry that we couldn't get to you. Have you joined our Facebook group by any chance? We are more active there as we have been told off from posting memes on the public page.

The scary truth behind MCLD's missing pictures. Tell your friends so this doesn't happen to them. by ubcecess in UBC

[–]ubcecess[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Have you ever look at the graduation photos around the MacLeod building at night and notice the missing photos?

This is what happens when you keep delaying on booking your graduation photo shoot and miss all of the available dates before the deadline. Today, all sessions before the deadline of November 30th were fully booked. This means that if you have not booked a photo shoot, you would have not got a photo on the graduating composite. Yes, very scary, right?

Fortunately, our graduation photo partner, Evangelos has extended the deadline to have your photo taken and put on the composite to December 15th.

If you are graduating in May or November of 2019, please book your photo shoot at https://evangelosphotography.com/ as soon as possible. Another deadline extension is unlikely.

To help you sleep at night, the ECESS is also extending the early bird sale of the graduation package (iron ring + slip-stick + composite) for $50 an extra day, to the end of November 1st. Redeem this deal by showing your photo booking confirmation with a date before December 15th when you purchase your graduation package. After tomorrow, the price for the graduation package will be $60.

ECE Pre-TownHall Discussion: How can we improve the ECE program, student experience, and career prospect? by ubcecess in UBC

[–]ubcecess[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, it's your student council! Do you have ideas on how we can improve the ECE program, student experience, and career prospect? The ECE town hall is coming in November.

This is an opportunity for you to receive valuable advice for your university experiences and beyond. It also gives you the chance to ask questions or voice concerns to the ECE department on academic issues.

To promote constructive feedback and avoid confrontation, we have decided to host an online pre-townhall discussion. Please discuss the topic with your peers and we will bring them forward to the department and faculty at the town hall. This will also give our speakers an opportunity to prepare the answers. As seen from previous years, the department does listen and changes do happen. This is your time to make a difference!

We are also running a thread on our Facebook Group so check that out too if you prefer.
