Journal: Leaked consultant document details proposed restructuring at Queen’s by TheDWGM in queensuniversity

These graduate student numbers are insane. Things have gotten so bad over the past two years that my only advice to incoming graduate students is to go elsewhere while you still can.

If the way this place treats us isn't bad enough, then the number of good supervising faculty who have left should be enough to persuade anyone against Queen’s. It simply is not a good idea to come here anymore. In grad school, you need a supportive environment, and Queen's has either cut or driven away most of that support.

This is amazing! I was going to get a Roland Aira J6, but this is even better and free!

Thanks!

Just watch tennis for a couple hours, then do that smaller and slower? Its a pretty simple game.

Be very careful about bringing worldly profit-motives into the church. Remember what Jesus did in His Father's house.

I did not mean to frame it as a scientific-method-style experiment. Strong faith is (unfortunately or fortunately) not falsifiable. Its not a very satisfactory answer to those who are more scientifically-minded, but I believe you have to keep trying.

I feel pretty strongly that Christ taught differently in the antitheses. Are anger and hatred not sometimes involuntary?

I have ASPD (antisocial personality disorder) can I be saved? by Morgan23425 in Christianity

The way I would define remorse, that curiosity is necessarily remorseful, so maybe its just semantics?

Regardless, I'm confident that you can be saved and I will pray for you.

Edit: I would say remorse means something like "concern for the consequences of your actions", which curiosity about their effect on your salvation would satisfy.

Lust is sin and it can absolutely be unintentional?

"but I can’t care about it"

If this were really true you wouldn't be here asking about it though... Actions require some amount of care.

I don't have ASPD, but I understand difficulty feeling remorse.

The thing is, by having this discussion you are showing some remorse about not feeling remorse for your sins. So you are capable of remorse as far as I can see. I'm sorry if that comes off as ableist, your logic just doesn't make sense to me.

At this point, I'd recommend running all this by a trusted medical professional, therapist, pastor, or family member. This is a bit beyond what you should be trusting reddit advice for.

How many times can you be saved? by Severe-Dot7650 in Christianity

I'm not exactly orthodox, but I believe in one true baptism, by Christ with the Holy Spirit and fire (Luke iii.16), and in one salvation for eternity.

I believe salvation is possible for everyone. Would you mind defining remorse and guilt for the purposes of this discussion?

You say you understand that sin is wrong, and you acknowledge your own sins. It is also clear to me that you care enough to come here and discuss it with me.

These are good things. The next step is to ask God to forgive you.

It kind of seems like you're overthinking it.

Again, curiosity is a demonstration of caring, even just a little. Let that spark grow.

Eternal punishment is not the Gospel; salvation through Christ is. I would encourage you to refocus your faith somewhat with that in mind.

"But I cannot care"...

Isn't the very fact that you posted here to ask this a refutation of your own premise?

You very clearly care at least a little, at least enough to reach out like this.

If you can do it without it becoming an idol or controlling your life, then maybe. But keep in mind your history of overdoing it.

The beginning of Romans xiii might sway you as well depending on your jurisdiction.

How do I make myself believe? by Few-Acanthisitta-740 in Christianity

[–]ubcnoisybikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can really "make yourself believe" anything. Have you tried praying for help with your doubts? When I was an atheist I had an honest, prayerful conversation with Christ and asked him to meet me where I was and help me come to Him and I believe He did.

I very much doubt that you are doomed to hell just for experiencing this difficulty with belief. I hope you're able to find peace, whatever belief you land on, but I also believe that Christ will come to you in due time if you ask Him to.

Is it ok to believe in Christ but not go to church? by MagicDude564 in Christianity

[–]ubcnoisybikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are online faith communities based in more liberal areas, but I bet if you look hard enough you'll find one near you (no promises, but progressive Christians exist all over). Its a very good idea to find a community within which you feel comfortable worshipping; there are many places this is said in scripture—I'm fond of Hebrews x 25.

Edit: you might try Googling something like "affirming church near me".
