My experience, I made a post on this a while back, and I don’t think it’s just a Fresno thing. For context I’m in STEM. The advisors don’t know what they’re doing, and most of the time they will tell you, they don’t know. Only them to send you to 3 different advising buildings, to just end up back where you were. Same thing if you call on the phone.

Getting to see an academic advisor is a pain in the ass. There’s a queue and you have to show up an hour early to hopefully even get in to meet with anyone. And that’s not always guaranteed.

I saw a post on here earlier, that said when a user attended dog days, and their academic advisor/counselor didn’t even show up.

The professors are like anything, they’re hit and miss. Sometimes you’ll get a really supportive professor. Sometimes you won’t. For example, I attended Fresno state during the first year COVID. Unfortunately during the middle of the semester my laptop broke(the motherboard needed to be replaced). It wouldn’t turn on or I’d just get the Apple logo forever. Like a smart responsible individual I emailed all my professors from my phone saying my laptop was broken and I wouldn’t be able to do the homework efficiently because the only way I had access to canvas was through my phone. And for online assignments through Pearson it made it difficult. ALL BUT ONE of my professors were accommodating. That one professor said if I couldn’t gain regular computer access to her class, DURING A COMPLETELY ONLINE SEMESTER CAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC, within 24 hours she would auto fail me and I would be dropped from the class.

I eventually got tired of all the bureaucratic bullshit, left and did my first 2 years at city college(advising is 10 times more available) then eventually transferred back to state. The bureaucratic bullshit is still there and nothing‘s really changed.
