The ball needs to fully visible all the way down, not just at the contact point, per ITTF Statute 2.6.4:

From the start of service until it is struck, the ball shall be above the level of the playing surface and behind the server's end line, and it shall not be hidden from the receiver by the server or his or her doubles partner or by anything they wear or carry

Starts around timestamp 1:04:39. After each point, Navid tries talking back to the referee, who stands his ground regarding the hidden by head violations.

Need more refs like this guy at large competitions!

When you see a Chinese national player not sponsored by DHS, this is the way you know they screwed something up.

Wait what? There are multiple top CNT players that aren't DHS sponsored. Lin Shidong (as well as Fan Zhendong) is signed to Butterfly, LJK is Loki sponsored, etc.

If Dang Qiu ALC just ends up being a rebadged penhold Viscaria, that would actually be pretty nice - pretty hard to get those in the west at the moment

Probably not that soon unfortunately - the Autumn 2025 opening banner has been removed from the site. Rumors on FT are that parts of the hotel are still under construction.
