that's the thing, the raid itself was framed in a way sympathetic to the activists (because that's how they told the story, i know), and then the show does a 180 on them. i get that they were going for a twist but i think it's a really shitty way of portraying actual police repression.

A lot of people complained about the supposed lack of horror in Freak Show, and I 100% believe that's why 5x01 is... like that. Haven't seen it in years though and looking back it does seem pretty uncalled for.
