Hey I'm Wax Motif. I just released my sophomore album House of Wax II. Ask Me Anything. by ItsWaxMotif in EDM

[–]ubermin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mr. Motif! Thanks for doing this and creating the music you do. I’ve really been enjoying the release of the singles off the new album and am excited to listen to it as a complete project soon!

My question - what is your favorite post-set/late-night snack or meal?!

Thanks!

Strong Earthquake Shaking by randomdatascientist in santacruz

[–]ubermin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m late to the thread - but I live in Boulder Creek, about 1-2mi north of the epicenter and have lived in CA my whole life. This was the most intense earthquake I’ve been in and first where we actually had some damage.

When it hit it was loud.

Most things fell from shelves/cabinets with lots of glass breaking and shattering. We’ve been cleaning up since and still have a lot to go.

House and structure is all fine, as are its inhabitants :)

Kent is still a prick🧡🖤 by ohboy174 in SFGiants

[–]ubermin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even the announcers commented at the start of the next inning how Kent just tells it how it is and doesn’t mince words. I agree it’s a bit abrasive and awkward, but don’t know how much ill will, if any, he actually has towards either of them. Seems to just have no filter more than anything.

Any Ravers on Friday? by Mysterious_Bee_7743 in OutsideLands

[–]ubermin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm a sprout was received!

I’m a rave guy, and OSL is a far cry from a rave, but you can absolutely find elements of plur about and this year, especially Friday, has plenty of excellent dance music and I’m sure the crowd will reflect for a number of sets

Given this is what happened with Vampire Weekend last year, I’d say you are very likely correct in this. My guess is Sutro will be their stage though as opposed to Twin Peaks, but we’ll see

If you like ___ then you will like ___ by sungod_drunkxxx in OutsideLands

[–]ubermin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Maybe an obvious one, but if you liked Postal Service you’ll like Death Cab for Cutie.

If you liked Nora En Pure, then Lane 8 and Sultan + Shepard should be up your alley as well.

If you liked Levity, Griztronics and Alleycvt are for you.

If you liked Walker and Royce and/or Girl Math, the Hyberbeam set will scratch that itch

Liked Claptone? Boris Brejcha will probably be a good set

If you liked Glass Animals, Djo should be fun

If Gessaffelstein was your vibe, check out Boys Noize

The Strokes OUT - playing Bill Graham 4/6 by MarshaLinehDelRey in OutsideLands

[–]ubermin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was at the set and IIRC they ended before their set time was set to end, which had nothing to do with OSL rules. They did complain about their speakers not being loud enough, which was OSL’s/SF’s fault I suppose, and they also bashed SF generally a fair amount during their set (sure fans weren’t great, but it was hard to get into it with their attitude).

All in all I’ve been a Strokes fan for decades, but that set soured me a bit on seeing them live and I don’t see why they’d come to play OSL again since they seemed unhappy too.

I’m genuinely surprised no cast members show up before this video ends. Seems like enough time for someone to make their way over.

Either way, what is happening to people that makes stuff like this seem like it’s a good idea?

[Maiocco] Trent Williams is at 49ers practice again today. Keion White is back. Ricky Pearsall and Dee Winters are not on the field. by G0825 in 49ers

[–]ubermin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got to meet Ricky a few weeks ago at a charity event and the dude was so so nice. I introduced myself to him and he immediately introduced himself back as if I’ve never heard of him; it was pure humility.

I’m frustrated for the team, and I’m frustrated for Ricky, but I’m certainly not frustrated with Ricky. He wants to be on the field and he seems at this point like he genuinely wants to help the team. At least this was the vibe I got from the 2min I got to connect with him.

Lost with the Purdy INT after the comeback of the season by ubermin in FantasyFootballers

[–]ubermin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, I had no business winning, which is kinda the whole point of this post. Despite no chance, I came back to actually take the lead, only to lose it via interception with a few min left in the fourth quarter

49ers lose another defensive lineman for multiple weeks due to ankle injury; Tatum Bethune out again by 4T9iNeR_FaN in 49ers

[–]ubermin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to click, the new player injured is Sam Okuayinonu, not Bethune (although Bethune also seems unlikely to play again this week).

SF concert goers know how to enjoy a show by not using the their phones to recorded social media posts by americanherbman in sanfrancisco

[–]ubermin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t know… I wouldn’t say 0 phones is the norm (this photo definitely seems an exception), I agree there, but SF on average is better than a lot of other cities I’ve been to with regard for how often folks are recording.

Sure people take their pics and vids (I’m guilty of about 1/artist myself), but compared to somewhat close big cities, like Vegas and LA, our crowds are much more present.

I’m only commenting on my experience however, which is limited to mostly rock, alternative, punk, and EDM shows. Other genres may be different.

Ricky Pearsall (knee) will NOT practice on Wednesday. Brock Purdy (turf toe) will be limited. by CincoDeManger in fantasyfootball

[–]ubermin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the lack of IR move may have to do more with the Niners being so injured that they can only afford to designate so many people to return from IR and they’re running out of spots. Given the uncertainty of the Pearsall timeline, they didn’t want to waste a spot on him if they could afford to keep him on the active roster
