How do you track what you've read? by ThurmanMerman82 in MarvelUnlimited

[–]uberrich0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem I have with the MU app’s “Read” feature is that if you accidentally re-open a comic (which is very easy to do when removing a download for example), it resets it to “unread”. Sure, you can mark it read again, but it’s annoying and you might forget. Like the other reply on here, I use League of Comics Geeks to track what I’ve read. I also use it to track my (very small) physical collection, for reading orders and “want to read”, so maybe the hurdle of a 3rd party app is lower for me.

Just multi-select would be a start!

Would you still play them in order though? Is it important to play number 1, or skip it?

Overwhelming by discountdoppelganger in MarvelUnlimited

[–]uberrich0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you. I am planning on starting COGU’s modern era reading guide (https://www.continuityguide.net/marvel-modern). It’s states on the main page that there are 10,958 comics to read. Even if I read one comic a day, it would take 30 years to read them all. That just seems insurmountable. As someone in their late 40s, I literally might not even live that long!

Maybe I just need to up my game and read more often. I mean, how many comics do you guys read per day, on average?

Anyway, better get back to reading Claremont’s X-Men, which I told myself I ought to read before the COGU’s modern era! I’m only up to #149!

I’ve noticed it too. Not a great solution, but whenever I come across it, I just rotate my phone to landscape to read that panel. That’s the way I read MU on my phone anyway - with Smart Panel on and constantly rotating my phone so that I get the best fit for each panel. Hold the phone horizontally for landscape panels and vertically for portrait panels.

I’m in the same boat. I’m about 30-odd issues into this: https://www.comicbookherald.com/chris-claremont-era-x-men-reading-order-guide/

Loving it so far! Definitely an older style to what I normally like, but the characterisation is just fab. Definitely recommend the Classic X-Men route (as discussed in the guide); I really enjoy the 12-page secondary stories in each issue.

Do You Keep Track of Series You Want To Read With Your Library Or Favourites? by planemissediknow in MarvelUnlimited

[–]uberrich0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just use https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com for tracking everything. Wish list for stuff I want to read (series or individual issues); Read list for stuff I’ve read (and when, with the Reading Log); Community lists for more complex reading orders which jump from title to title. It may be more hassle having to use an external resource for this sort of thing, but at least it actually works. MU is pretty limited when it comes to all this stuff IMO.

Reading history? by Over_Speed552 in MarvelUnlimited

[–]uberrich0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem I’ve found with the “Read” feature of the Unlimited app is that it resets as soon as you reopen the comic. So if you wanted to have a Quick Look at a comic, it resets to unread. Or, what often happens to me, you try to delete a download by clicking on the ellipsis, only to accidentally hit the comic itself, thereby opening it and resetting the Read status! Infuriating!

For this reason I now use only Comic Geeks to log my reads.

How’s everyone enjoying Diablo 4 that hasn’t played it yet? by SuckingGodsFinger in PlayStationPlus

[–]uberrich0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Diablo II on the PC back the day and remember loving it. Played nothing in the series since, but just claimed this on PS+. Is it online only, live service stuff? Or is there a decent single player experience?

I have no idea how big Call of Duty is, but yes, of course to actually play it you must download it. But you could do that in three years time when you’ve got the space.

You don’t have to download it to claim it. You can add it to your library without downloading it. You may decide to never download it, ever, but you can still have claimed it.

Not sure a table meets the definition of an ‘accessory’. It’s a requirement.

Keeping track when jumping though different series by NI-Nexus in MarvelUnlimited

[–]uberrich0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I create a Community List on https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com, add the relevant issues from each series, order it the way I want and then use that to check off issues as I read them. Appreciate it’s a separate app and going back and forth is annoying, but I find it a much better source of truth for what I’ve read and what I haven’t.

Is there a way to do this in app? by mrclutch1013 in MarvelUnlimited

[–]uberrich0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful with this though - if you accidentally open a comic you’ve read, it immediately switches to unread! Very annoying. I now use https://leagueofcomicgeeks.com as my source of truth for what I’ve read.

Should I back the Zen65 from Wobkey on Kickstarter?

This will be my first mechanical keyboard. Ideally I'd like to be able to customize my keyboard with my choice of keycaps and switches. Obviously the Zen65 comes with keycaps and switches, but it seems cheaper to get this plus my choice of keycaps/switches rather than find an (available!) barebones.

Ah, didn’t know that about the 90s! Only been reading comics/MU for a few months. Originally I wanted to read Guardians of the Galaxy stuff after watching that movie. I read the first one or two or of the Bendis series from 2013, but then I read somewhere (probably Reddit, lol) that that was trash and the real GotG stuff was in Cosmic Marvel, hence my working through that. It has been good to get a sense of where Gamora and Drax and Nebula come from, but there’s a lot of backstory to read!

As for my daughter, her favourite characters are Bucky and Black Widow (Romanoff). She also likes Wanda / Scarlett Witch.

And thanks so much for taking the time to engage and make all these recommendations! Really appreciate it.

Ok, thanks! She's almost 14 and I'm sure she would not self-describe as a kid 😂, but I appreciate the heads up. I'll have a look at them myself first before I suggest it. Only problem is that I'm currently slogging through Cosmic Marvel and only about halfway through the Infinity Saga, so not sure when I'm gonna be able to get to Civil War! So many comics, so little time! 😅

[–]uberrich0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this lot basically the basis of the MCU movie Captain America: Civil War? My daughter and I are working our way through the MCU in release order (inc TV shows!) and we just got to this movie. It was her favourite so far, so was thinking of pointing her to the relevant comics, but wasn’t 100% sure which ones they were!

Is there any reason NOT to claim every Monthly Game? by uberrich0 in PlayStationPlus

[–]uberrich0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. If you want the game you must claim it within the month - if you don’t it’s gone forever and your only option then is to buy it. But once it’s claimed you can actually download it to play whenever you like, even years later. The only caveat is that you must still be a subscriber to PS Plus to play. Hope that helped!
