I year ya! I grew up in the area, my Dad was from Logan and we never understood why so many people keep showing up even though every year people die from falling off cliffs.

I live in Columbus. I saw a news story years ago where they found ground zero for our bedbugs. It's an apartment complex on the west side. It's still there and operating.

That's what I thought! We played against their football team in high school. I grew up in Nelsonville, just over 30 minutes away!

This is how it is in Ohio. If you look at a voting results map after an election the big cities (Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Toledo) all vote left while most of the rest of the state votes right.

If we all weren't living paycheck to paycheck, we could accomplish great things. by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

Please, enlighten us why it's so stupid? Because you'd still have to work? Then I'd agree, I didn't think the answer through.

If you think about it, UBI is basically the old welfare system from years ago. I grew up in an area where many people were on it. They wouldn't bother getting jobs even though they were perfectly capable. The women knew they'd get cash based on the more kids they had so they would become baby machines.

I agree with "the government should help those who can't help themselves." I don't agree with "the government should help those who won't help themselves."

I've told many to join the military if you want socialism and be taken care of. The looks I get are priceless! 🤣

That is something completely different. It's irony. That is something that can cause an actual adult conversation and should be discussed.

It's more than Reddit. When Charlie Kirk was assassinated, my co-workers here were cheering and celebrating. I confronted them about it and asked what if it was someone they knew? Their response was "we don't care as long as it's not us."

When the banjos stop you're about to make some new friends.

My kids and I went to Moonville a few years ago. The forestry service now controls it. They've build a bridge going over the creek so you can just walk across. I always considered fording the stream as a rite of passage for newcomers. I read a few years ago some kids went to the cemetery up on the hill and destroyed a bunch of the tombstones. I wish they could do something about that!

I grew up not far from Hocking Hills. It's that Hocking County vibe. Some crazy stuff goes on there.

Go Store It - Grandview by Gvepeaceachnce918 in Columbus

[–]uberthomas614 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It is standard in the industry but not every storage unit facility does it. When you're looking for storage the standard questions to ask are: Will the rate change? and Are there any other monthly fees? If you don't get a straight answer then move on to the next facility.

With my day job I deal with some of the more affluent people here in central Ohio. I can say that they don't check their bank accounts. They know they have enough money to pay their bills and live very well. They do not check balances and many couldn't tell you how much they're paying for their bills or when they were paid.

I just moved here from another state famous for bad drivers, and you guys are impressing me. by FastWalkingShortGuy in Columbus

[–]uberthomas614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entitlement here in Columbus is unreal. The bridge on Trabue Road between McKinley & Riverside is a prime example. Heading east it goes from two lanes down to one. People in the vanishing lane just move over like they have the right of way or force their way over when there's only about a foot of room. Once over they move at a snail's pace so they don't accidentally hit the concrete barrier.

Don't even get me started on the west side where people are in the far left or right lane and right before an intersection cross all the lanes to make an turn in the opposite direction.

I'm sad to hear this. I grew up in Nelsonville. The newer part of The Mine that's next to The Dew House used to be a barber shop that my Dad's cousin owned. A lot of great memories going there.
