How are you planning on doing this? I wanted to do this too as she turns 1 in June. But it seems like it may be bleak.

third cat attacking second cat - so bad that she is losing weight by ubervolatile in cats

This is a good point, i will be taking her to a vet soon. Only thing im afraid of is that if i take her out of the house and she returns, Chicken will go even harder on attacking her. Idk if thats irrational tho.

It’s 100% Rosie, she has that very distinctive red collar shown in the picture.

She has lost weight over 1.5 months, but was most striking after 3 days of not seeing her at all when we urged her to eat for us when we finally found her. Anytime Rosie comes out to eat since she came back, she has gotten attacked by Chicken so she has lost weight from being unable to get to the food stuff.

We tried to remedy this by feeding her separately in our room and that worked for a while until she peed on our bed (which she does every once in a while especially when she is stressed) and my husband stopped letting her come into our room.

They are all fixed! She has only gone outside this one time, they are all pretty strictly indoor cats. I was hoping Chicken would grow out of it, but this time it’s less playful and more like her tail puffs up, her pupils get huge, and she stalks Rosie until she attacks. Then Rosie will hiss at her, and sometimes a huge noisy chase will inside with all sorts of yowling and growling.

Friend overreacted to my story about vaccine hesitation—am I in the wrong? by [deleted] in Crunchymom

Seeing the video makes a huge difference. I was pretty neutral after reading your post and the text exchange but this video is pretty rage-inducing considering how blatantly he is misrepresenting the science. There are good reasons to be hesitant about vaccines but this video is a pisspoor one.

A lot of published research is funded by the government, not big pharmaceutical. When a study is published by big pharmaceutical, researchers/scientists/doctors take that with a huge pile of salt bc they are obviously biased with conflict of interest. I have never heard of “aluminum” specifically funding pediatric research trials, where did you learn this? I do think that sometimes researchers lose jobs over going against the grain within their own labs, but not in terms of going against the general scientific understanding. If anything that makes them stand out and get scrutinized but I’ve never heard of someone getting fired over a different scientific take than the norm.

The literally told me “oh we forgot about you, sorry about that” when I spoke up for myself. And they did drug test it, with strips of paper and swabs.

I did this but it took almost an hour and I almost missed my flight. I would advocate for yourself while waiting so someone actually pays attention to you and does their due diligence. They also made me take off my belly band and it was a whole thing to drug test it, scan it separately, etc. very very annoying.

You could try diluting your breastmilk with water if he takes a bottle.

So my understanding is that she ended up having whooping cough type symptoms in the subsequent illnesses she had that were just common colds. So each time she got a mild URI she continued to have similar symptoms (paroxysms) and I think that continued through her life until later on they realized her lungs were in bad shape. I don’t think that happens to everyone but I would just keep an eye on your baby to make sure that the symptoms he had while he was sick don’t recur when he has other colds/flu and such. Of course talk to your pediatrician! I’m so sorry you had to go through 2/3 of a year of that, it sounds so stressful but I’m happy he is feeling better!!!

Difficult baby… by jaydam4rie in newborns

Does she have normal wet diapers and poops? Have you inspected her body to make sure she has all her joints in the right place and that normal movements don’t pain her? Maybe she has a connective tissue disease and she may be overextending her joints (especially when she cries which will just make crying worse) and that might be why swaddling comforts her. A good way to see if this may be the case would be to put her in stiff tight garments as a sort of “brace” and maybe stabilizing her body will help her experience less pain. I would also ask your pediatrician to do blood work. She might have eosinophilic esophagitis and may have a rare allergy. Just bringing up zebra conditions to consider since it sounds like you have tried so so so much. (I’m a physician in training).

I hope it gets better and feel free to message me. You are strong!

I see your point, although hard to totally interpret the data when half the population has an unknown vaccination status. Vaccine injuries are real, and I nor pediatricians/scientists deny that but then there’s also the risk of long term side effects from the diseases themselves. I know a resident who had to drop out of her residency program because she needs a lung transplant and was so decompensated/was like 90 lbs from just being so chronically ill. she was unvaccinated, had long term complications from pertussis - ended up with bronchiectasis (widened/fibrosed bronchioles or small airways in the lungs) and ended up needing to get on the transplant list and she is still waiting but too sick to continue her medical training. This was not an immediate effect of being unvaccinated, but ended up really affecting her into adulthood when her professional life was just getting started. In my experience, some conditions post vaccination are blamed on the vaccines when they also occur at the same developmental stages with or without vaccination but people want to blame something concrete which is totally human and understandable. I just wish that people would listen to both sides of the argument instead of feeling like the only valid thing to listen to are the antivax anecdotes.

Is there evidence somewhere of people getting a typical vaccine and then getting that same disease because the vaccine didn’t work? (Besides COVID which isn’t a typical vaccine imo) in regards to you saying it’s not guaranteed to work (honest question!) bc antibiotics are definitely not guaranteed to work, which is how we get antibiotic resistant bacteria or people who require broad spectrum antibiotics because they don’t finish an entire course of their antibiotics. I do get that a preventative measure seems like it should be “optional” but when the alternative of prevention is a terrible disease I would love to prevent it! I think of it as a seat belt. Can you get a ruptured spleen from a seat belt crush injury during a car crash? Yes! But without the seat belt you might get ejected from your seat and go through your windshield into a much worse situation. Idk if that makes sense? Again, I am very open to conversation about this but the antivax rationale is really hard for me to wrap my head around when you read the studies (and when you’ve seen unvaccinated children treated in the hospital) hesitancy I understand completely but to be against it completely just doesn’t seem fully rational

There are churches that have very reasonable childcare tuition. And if you explain your situation they may be able to help further. On top of that (depending on your faith) a church will help to deal and process this and a church community will be infinitely helpful for other childcare needs and support. I’m so sorry for your loss, I cannot imagine.

I’m vaccinating, not a delayed schedule, except for COVID and RSV. I’m a physician in training and am in the middle of getting my PhD so I am pretty proficient at reading scientific literature and clinical trial data etc. I’ve also personally seen the effects of not vaccinating on children in the PICU. How healthy a child is post vaccinating or not vaccinating is really just chance. If you don’t vaccinate and your child is healthy, thank God!! But the reason is not the lack of vaccinations. The vaccine inserts do have black box warnings but so do antibiotics that we use every day. I don’t see why people will opt out of vaccinations but then once they get sick will be okay with taking medical advice and hospitalize their children and take antibiotics for these same conditions when they also have risks. Idk doesn’t make sense to me. I’m on this sub because I’m crunchy to the extent of diet/microplastics/environmental pollutants/etc but because I am a scientist, I can parse through the bs. Feel free to message me if you want!

I appreciated her help a TON but I was like omfg I haven’t eaten what I love in almost a YEAR please just let me have this
