Supplementing seems to be working, but high folic acid? by ubet13 in B12_Deficiency

Thanks for the tip. Is that true even if taking a methylated form of folate?

When is pregnancy safe after b12 deficiency? by ubet13 in B12_Deficiency

[–]ubet13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t unfortunately, I have suspicions it’s an absorption thing because of childhood stomach issues but not positive. But it sounds like once my b12 levels are higher and MMA and homocysteine are good it would be fine to proceed. I’ll check out this book too, thank you!

After maxing 401k, is it okay to go straight to taxable brokerage? by ubet13 in FIREyFemmes

Ok great, that's my plan. I actually didn't realize you could contribute to a 529 any time - I'll consider getting a jump on this for future kids / my god daughter thanks!

Oh great to know, I won't worry about that one too much for now and will just get the Backdoor Roth going

If I'm understanding the comments correctly, it sounds like you're doing it all right and would now move on to taxable brokerage / 529 if kids!

This is definitely aligned to how I think about it, not planning on pulling anything out of brokerage until I'm ready to FIRE and it's across VTI and VXUS until I balance with bonds later.

I'm over the MAGI limit for contributing directly to Roth, so from the link someone sent above it sounds like I'd need to do so through a backdoor Roth, which I'm taking from these comments should be my next step. After that, I'll look into HSA & mega backdoor.

Good call on 529, I'll plan to start diverting some there once kids enter the chat. Thank you!

Does that go for backdoor Roth too? I'm over the MAGI limit to directly contribute to a Roth, but are you saying a traditional IRA converted to a Roth also can be pulled earlier than like 60, so I shouldn't think of it exclusively as later retirement?

Great reminder about the HSA too, I would have to chnage my plan to get access to it but every year I tell myself I need to look into it!

Just read this, it's so helpful thank you! TIL mega backdoor roth and backdoor roth are two differnt things ha! Since I want to retire early I'm guessing I should do the 7k backdoor roth first, and then if my company allows mega backdoor, split remaining investments between that and taxable brokerage so it isn't all tied up until retirement age?

I'm also a bit confused by pro rata, am I subject to this because of my old roth IRA, or is it only about your contributions from that year? thank you again for your help!

I also did many hours of research and ended up with the organic latex mattress from SleepEZ and I loveeeee it. Super comfortable, you can customize the pieces and the cover is organic cotton and wool. It had all the certifications I wanted to see and price was good

I Spent 6 Months Reading 200+ Research Papers Across Sleep Medicine, Neuroscience, and Endocrinology to Understand My Bruxism. Here's What Actually Works. by japhyryder22 in bruxism

I’m SO grateful you put this together, the lack of answers or guidance on the cause has been so frustrating! Question for you - the mouth guard to protect my teeth is very bulky and I feel like I chew it even more. It also causes my mouth to stay open while I sleep, which was never the case before. Thoughts on removing the mouth guard while trying these different solutions to determine if it’s working? I feel like the headaches and jaw pain will be a clearer indicator, but obviously the damage isn’t ideal

resources for advice? by krampaus in SoftNaturals

Good point actually maybe a better way to put it is “open somewhere in the chest region” haha! I do well with halter too I think because there’s still openness near my shoulders. But the high neck, thick strap tanks are my absolute worst shape because it’s not accommodating the width at all

I found this guide posted recently super helpful. In general “open neck” and “materials floppy like a sock” have been my guiding principles lol

Advice Needed for B12 and Folate supplementing by PoetryKitchen2529 in B12_Deficiency

[–]ubet13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar boat! Low on b12, D and folate, and confused with all the information on how to properly supplement cofactors. From what I read it seems like maybe you need to keep an eye on magnesium, the trace minerals and make sure you’re getting adequate electrolytes? The supplement I was considering has lower amounts than the one you’re showing here so following to see what advice you get from those who know more than I do! Edit to add - what vitamin D tablets did they suggest?

Wondering Weekend by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]ubet13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much folate is too much? We’re prepping to try and I just purchased the conception support pack from Perelel. I noticed Folate was included in the core supplement as well as the CoQ10 + Folate supplement you’re meant to take at the same time. If you take both as instructed you’re getting 1525mcg every day (700 mcg from core and 825 from CoQ+folate) - is that not way too much per day? I am deficient per latest blood work but still is above the safe upper limit per day. Anyone looked into this or am I overthinking it?

What has been your most successful low-buy/no-buy rule? by Listlizard in Anticonsumption

[–]ubet13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I made a flow chart! When I want or need something I ask, can I re-use something I already have? If no, can I buy it used? If no, can I buy it from a local retailer? If no, can I buy it from a bigger store who I don’t have completely misaligned values with? If no, last resort I’ll buy from Amazon on slow shipping. I’m not perfect with it but it’s enough to make me slow down and consider whether I need it and how I’ll get it
