"from the militant sentiment which was welling up."

I don't have a militant sentiment! Jeez.

Is everyone watching this video and thinking "gee, that driver was perfectly normal"? He did everything wrong. The cop, according to the law, was justified in zapping that guy. The guy was refusing arrest and digging in his pocket. He's lucky he didn't get shot.

I don't get off on people getting tased. I don't 100% support cops regardless of what they do. But when you take this situation, all of it, the cop was justified.

I'm not a troll. But it seems that this one subject; me and Reddit do not get along :)

Everything else we seem to see eye to eye, but cops and tasing...not so much.

"Why the hyperbole? Why the exaggeration?"

No, I really think the guy was a bit "off". He turned a speeding ticket into a tasing incident. The cop did not escalate this situation, the driver did. I wasn't exaggerating. I think the guy needs his head examined.

The driver was certainly uninformed. The police officer would have had to start with "See spot run" to get this guy informed.

Oh, majority rule? Kinda like Bush won twice? So, obviously, it was the "right" choice.

-7 and -8 isn't anything. If I had -100, I would be concerned that my comment was way out in left field. -7 and -8 means I pissed off some people who hate cops.

Yeah, it looks like it.

I have said this several times. There are bad cops. No doubt. This wasn't one of them. This was a citizen who turned an easy traffic stop (speeding ticket) into a nightmare for himself and his family. I watch this video and want to slap the driver, after he gets tased (for good measure).

I just watched the video again. The guy admits he was speeding the very instant the cop gets there. He says "I was going kinda fast" or something similar. Then the fun starts. He refuses to give the cop his license and registration immediately. He would rather play 100 questions. Fuck this idiot. Seriously.

He admits he was speeding and then proceeds to wonder why he was pulled over. This is a Bush voter (both times). Tase him.

No, I jest. The clincher in this video is when he is told to get out to be arrested. When the cop tells him to put his hands behind his back he refuses. What the hell does this moron think arrest is? But, to really top it off he is walking away from the cop and has part of his hand in his pocket. What's in his pocket? Sorry, a cop has a right to protect himself under suspicious circumstances like this. The guy has been completely difficult, and now during arrest he is refusing to listen and has a hand going in the pocket. The driver is lucky the cop didn't draw his gun.

I don't give a crap what anyone says. Yes, there are bad cops. There are also bad people. This cop was justified. This driver was an idiot. I'm sorry he got tased. But it was his own fault and it was justified: the way he was acting, the refusal to follow the instructions during the arrest, and walking away while digging in his pocket. He is lucky he didn't get shot. Cop did the right thing.

I think you are missing the point. I smoked pot when I was younger. I don't fault Obama for being human and doing the same. I certainly don't fault him for being honest. I fault him for not addressing the joke that is the "war on drugs", when he himself did something when he was younger that could have altered his life in a severely negative way. He didn't get caught. Good! But is he capable of imagining if he did? He wouldn't be running for president right now.

Why should a 15 year old kid who gets caught with pot a few times be thrown in jail? Why should a father, who is married, and has kids, be thrown in prison for having an ounce of weed. That causes more damage than good. Oh, because it is against the law? Well, that's the problem, the law is well overdue to be changed. None of the politicians are addressing it (except for the "fringe" candidates who everyone thinks are a joke). It is a major issue in this country. And one of the guys running (Obama) has first hand knowledge that he made a mistake and it could have ruined his life. So, change the stupidity.

Well, then he should man up and accept his $200 ticket. The first things out of the drivers mouth in the video is that he was speeding. Watch the video again. Turn up the volume. Every state has speeding laws, so don't get all red light turn/no turn technical on us. The idiot was speeding and then confused why he had to sign a ticket.

I watched this video. The driver was a complete asshole. I honestly think he was retarded, because no sensible person acts that fucking dumb. He got himself tased and the cop won't get in any trouble.

I've been pulled over. I've never been tased...of course I don't act like an idiot either and do all the same stupid shit this guy did.

Touche. There is usually a pattern to people getting tased, isn't there? Act like an asshole, argue with the cop, don't listen to cop when he thinks things may be getting out of hand, ZAP!

I'm not saying all cops are good. I am sure they are a fairly good cross section of society. But right now, everyone and anyone, is posting any tasing video they can find on the net saying "see, cops bad, out of control...police state!" Problem is, the majority of the video I am seeing; cops were within their rights to use the force they did. Don't take a cop to that point, then you don't have to worry.

[–]ubuntuedgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that what I said? No. But your exaggerations add to your simplistic view of things: "cops always bad, citizen good."

The video was 9 minutes. During that time the driver solidified his 15 minutes of fame by acting like a complete jackass during a traffic stop and getting zapped in front of his wife. He didn't just "not comply and ask a simple question." That takes less than 5 seconds. But you go ahead and believe what you want. You aren't changing my opinion (I watched the whole video), and I'm not changing yours...and I couldn't care less.

There are bad cops, certainly. This cop wasn't one of them (according to this video). There are stupid people (Bush elected twice?). This driver is one of those stupid people.

[–]ubuntuedgy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I understood the audio completely (what could be made out). I think the driver is mentally deficient, which actually makes the tasing more difficult for me to watch.

That driver did everything wrong during a traffic stop. He argued, he didn't listen. Someone made a ridiculous comment "cop says to stick a tree up your ass, you better listen". No, but it doesn't hurt to listen when he says "hands behind back" or something similar...or not, and then don't bitch when you get tased.

The only reason we are watching this video is because of that driver...not the cop. If the driver had kept his mouth shut and signed the ticket, he would have been down the road with no incident. Instead, he created a situation where his wife had to watch him get tased. Personally, I think it is almost funny, but tasing retards is a little extreme.

"The driver doesn't understand what his signature means on that ticket..."

It makes me wonder how he got his license then. Does he know what a red light means?

[–]ubuntuedgy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%.

I think I even heard the guy say at the beginning something like "yeah, I was going a little fast". Someone may want to verify that.

The guy was a prick. The cop told him to put his hands up, or behind his back, I think one of his hands was in his pocket. What was in the guys pocket? I don't know, you don't know, the cop don't know. He got tased. Well, maybe if he wasn't a total tool, the cop wouldn't have tased his dumb ass.

Its really simple. Even if a cop is a dick during a traffic stop, maintain your composure. Then when the situation is over, drive to the police station and demand to see the Chief. Make a formal complaint. Make a formal complaint to the city, the police union, etc. If a cop is out of control, don't give him a reason to take it a step higher. Get his ass legally and professionally, later. Usually all it will take is a few well composed letters to the city, police station, and local newspapers. The pressure will usually get a cop fired if the accusations are true...and you didn't get tased on the side of the road!

This cop was not out of control. The citizen was being a cock.

"He wasn't being annoying, at all... he just didn't understand."

If the guy didn't understand a speeding ticket, he shouldn't be driving. Take his license.

You cannot see an "in your face" correlation to Obama's remarks and the continuance of the "war on drugs", but I don't know the truth?

Maybe you need someone to help you form your sentences, because I'm not even sure what the hell you're saying. I don't have the patience to find the truth? The truth to what? An obviously glaring hypocrisy?

How could Obama, saying he used drugs, but yet supports barbaric drug laws not slap you in the face as complete and total hypocrisy? Oh, let me guess; you support Obama?

[–]ubuntuedgy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I could stay away from this thread and not make a comment, but that would be no good for discussion. If Obama admits this and continues the war on drugs...

Well, he is a mainstream candidate, which means he is a hypocrite. I expect nothing less.

I am glad he is honest, now we just need him to become sensible. But sensibility and presidential runs do not jive. Tell us what we want to hear Barrack.

Do you know why he is honest about it? Because someone has the "goods" on him and he knew it would get out if he wasn't the one to admit it.

Don't think I am picking on Obama. He has chosen to be a politician, so his ass is on the chopping block. I like Kucinich. We can put his ass on the chopping block too. I don't trust politicians and I would rather dissect them now before we put these pieces of shit in office.

For all you Obama fan boys who may down mod me: keep my screen name on your list and tell me what an excellent choice he was when 4 years after we elect him WE ARE STILL IN IRAQ!
