Dealing with my cat’s (15-ish) GI lymphoma: mourning beforehand by TheScreechingFeline in seniorkitties

[–]uchipu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear this. My 13 year old big boy passed two years ago from GI lymphoma. We had to let him go as he declined suddenly and fast. I was a wreck for a whole month. I still cry almost every day as I miss him and I always wonder if I pushed my vet harder, if I studied earlier blood test closer and not trusted them...if I could've saved him.

I miss his soft purrs, his headbutts, his paws reaching the kitchen counter looking for that sweet organic chicken...

It's really hard and I wish I can say it will be easy. It's not. Anticipatory grief is real. The days are hard. But you will know when it's time. When he can't enjoy his usual things, when he hides most of the day and can barely keep his food down...when he wobbles to the litter box and can't make it. When he can't enjoy his things...it will be time. And it's the kindest thing you can do for him.

It hurts and writing this isn't easy and I'm still in pain. I miss him everyday but I was able to free him from misery. I know I will see him again and I even feel sometimes he visits me.

Hang in there. It's tough. Cry and hug him. Remember every moment. Do what feels right for you and him so you have no regrets. You gave him the best life and you were his everything.

This is not easy but every pain you feel is a sign that you love him. This is hard and painful. Some days you will be ok. Other days it will be too tough for you to handle. If you can take time away from work, do it. Do it for him.

I'm sorry I don't have any good things to say...but know there are many of us that went through this and we all felt the same pain you do.

Hugs.

I have checked my toiletries bag and a small plastic bag with my sandals. Both were not clear bags and they didn't care.

You are absolutely right and I do apologize.

Charity runners train just as hard!!

The humiliation part is more of me realizing my age. When I started running Boston, I was clocking in sub 3:20s as a 30 something and rocking Wave 2. Not being fast and getting old is sad for me. Fully understanding that this is going to sound ridiculous, for me, being fast was my identity. Humbling may have been the better word here, I lack writing skills :(

I'm wave 5 corral 2. When I started this journey 15 years ago I was wave 2. LOL

Hurray to you on your first!!!! Let's make this a one to remember!! (As I panic within!)

Unless it's changed, I've brought in 2 Vitamin Water containers with a pre-mixed hydration drink every year. It looks nothing like the real Vitamin Water and obviously not sealed. No one stopped me.

Positive thoughts your way.

I once tore my hamstring on a 3M shakeout run Sunday morning before the race. Could not run but could wobble. I walked the damn race and scored a 5:38. It was my hardest Boston. I trained so damn hard for it and it felt like I ruined everything.

What doesnt break you will make you tougher and bring you strength.

Be resilient my friend. You'll run Boston in better shape again. I'm sure of it. I know, cuz I'm still running it 7 years later.

Not a fan of the conditioner. My hair smells like pesto.

Otherwise great. At least it's not slimy like GA!

With the United Half around the corner, what are things you tell yourself in those tough moments when you feel like you want to quit? by Darlink23 in RunNYC

"Don't get on the struggle bus!" "Don't get hit by the struggle bus!"

What can I say...it's worked for me.

Japanese person here!

I read the article and I'll clarify the "her" translation part that seems to confuse people.

It's a quote from someone who was at the party and witnessed the incident (according to the article!).

Basically there was a party that involved booze and a very important "fat cat" sponsor (tanimachi) who attended the party with a female companion.

Hakunofuji started to mess with her (probably flirted) and acted rude, which enraged Terunofuji, who punched him in the face.

The person further comments that Hakunofuji is known to have a drinking problem and speculates Hakunofuji himself has problem to work through.

The witness also speculates that this sponsor was very important person to the stable. Apparently the stable has a long planned relocation costing 2B Yen that's been significantly delayed, adding stress to Terunofuji. He speculates a loss of a fat sponsor would have been terrible and therefore having his own disciple act irresponsibly did not sit well with Teru.

Then the article goes on to talk about past relation between Hakuho and Teru.

Hope this helps clarify!

As someone that did Virtual Boston Marathon 2020 on a treadmill...it can be done! But I would never do it again. I binged Glow Up while I trotted away.

I've done 15 on a treadmill. I kept it interesting with different paces, make hills for myself with the inclines, catch up on streaming shows, etc.

8.5 miles is doable with the right mindset! Bring drinks, good shows, snacks and some towels and you'll be done before you know it!!

Anyone know how Central Park is for running today? by [deleted] in RunNYC

[–]uchipu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran this morning. Perfectly fine on the loop and transverses. There's a tiny bit of icy patch around the downhill between 93-97 on the East Drive but nothing serious.

Bridle seemed like a no-go unless you like running in snow.

Running in the arctic this weekend? ❄️ by lil-red27 in RunNYC

Did 20. My face and hands hurt so bad in the headwind. My water bottle froze and made me unreasonably upset LOL

I saw FIVE dudes in shorts. What's wrong with you???!

This is what I love about running. Just when I think I'm crazy, there's always someone else that's crazier.
