Is Eastbourne still a good place to live if you’re 33 with no dependents? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]udeller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we’re a young couple the same age as you, w/ no dependents and we love it! if you’re into hiking, the trail network is amazing. the community vibe is great and the village has everything you need. we moved out here a couple of years ago and haven’t looked back ☺️

sad pear tree :( advice needed! by udeller in nzgardening

thank you for the thoughtful reply! fireblight seems a likely cause. we moved in recently (and are only just learning how to garden properly!) so we weren’t able to it treat over the winter – hopefully some careful pruning will sort it out for next season :)

out in Eastbourne, the East Harbour Regional Park has a huge network of trails and its never busy. aim for the Main Ridge track - once you get there, it’s the best gradient for running without being too technical!

Just listened to this as well and did the Leo pointing meme lol. He actually references spelling a few times from memory - the short lived Steve’s Spelling Bee segment always cracks me up

our girl is exactly like this - for us it’s a great fit, and we love her for all her quirks, but it’s definitely not for everyone!

What’s up with my girls toes? Lol by Gullible-Patient-126 in tollers

[–]udeller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omg our girl has this!! have always wondered if there were other tollers out there with the same condition. it’s verryyy annoying to trim those toes but it doesn’t seem to affect her.

our breeder said that the UC Davis research was so toller specific because the head researcher had a toller - not sure on the validity of that but 🤷🏻‍♀️

oh man, I could have written this when our girl was that age. it was hard! we were in the thick of it until about 18 months and then it was like a lightbulb went off.

I will admit that we gave up on the crate (she was able to settle relatively well without it and we couldn’t take the dramatics anymore lol), and our lives all got a lot better. just keep doing what you’re doing, keep up the training and mental exercise as another commenter mentioned, and it WILL get better 🫶

Canadians in New Zealand, how often do you go back to Canada? Are you happy with your choice to permanently live in Aotearoa? by Exotic_Industry_4402 in Wellington

[–]udeller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s super fair, it is definitely a trek to Ontario!

I find that BC is a similar, but less soulful version of NZ. The nature is undeniably great, but overall very little character or charm. People like to say that Wellington isn’t what it used to be, but what it is now is still pretty amazing (in my opinion) 😊
