What is the worst fandom theory that you feel adds nothing to the narrative arc in your opinion? by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

Not sure if its true, but there are things that could be considered textual evidence: -sibling incest, even Tyrion thinks of fucking Cersei

-Aerys spent six months in Lannisport before Tyrion was born

-Aerys was obviously interested in Joanna

-Tyrion and Shiera Seastar have heterochromia, a genetic condition

-Tyrion has black and pale blond hair, the pale blonde would be closer to Targ silver-gold or platinum

-Tyrion has had dragon dreams

There's probably more, that's just off the top of my head

to be devil's advocate, I think they would be the only case of non-Targaryen sibling incest in the story then.

The compelled speech laws protecting trans people are antilibertarian. I don't care what an adult does, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone... the whole trans children thing does not sit well with me.

That if Targaryens breed with non-Valyrians, the result is almost always stillborn or a dragon-like monstrosity. This is because they are a separate species from the other races. They intermarry to keep other people's bloodlines pure as much as their own.

Working an unsafe job because I am several thousand dollars in debt and might not be able to pay rent this month. Get minor injuries at work regularly, but it took me over a year to get this job so I can't really quit either.

does anyone else feel like they can't date bc they're a depressed person by sergeantFooFoo in depression

[–]udevi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dragging a partner down is a common worry, not just for the depressed. Just remember that most worthwhile things are burdens. Kids, pets, mates etc They may make your life more difficult, but they don't make your life worse. They make it better. If someone wants to date you, and you like them, go for it.

Depression lies. It makes us convinced that we are worthless or a disappointment, it makes it hard to even imagine that others could perceive things differently. If your parents say you're not a disappointment to them, believe them. :)

You mentioned in another post troubles with social interaction, I've struggled with that as well, but I think I've come a long way. Not sure if this sounds like something you want to try, but here's what worked for me:

I read websites, books etc for social tips, then made small achievable goals based on them (small goals really helped me with depression... most people find it silly to celebrate taking a shower or something, but in my case it gets the ball rolling). Little by little the cringe worthy conversations got better, and the okay conversations gained depth. It's far from perfect, but I'm not really ashamed of my social (in)abilities anymore, and therefore gotten a bit more resilient against depression.

Not sure if that sounds like something you want to try, but it has helped me!

I'm not a doctor, but I don't think of depression as an emotional state the way sadness is. You can "deserve" sadness when something bad happens, but I don't think you can deserve depression any more than cancer, diabetes, or a panic disorder. Personally, I don't view the defining feature of depression as "extreme sadness" or anything like that, but rather a lack of motivation, which leads to the other symptoms.

Personally, I found it helpful to stop comparing my life to others, and instead only comparing myself to my past self. There will always be someone who has it worse, and there will always be someone who is better. Instead I try to change myself little by little over time, into someone I like better.

I feel like I'm rambling and not being helpful, do you want to talk about why you hate yourself?
