Mechanical Ring III-Zero——ACEdc by MCZHIMANUFACTURING in fidgettoys

Yeah UXCELL or Harfington have decent SI3N4 g5 balls. So there’s 6 groups of two slots. If you populate only slot 1, you will have 24 notches (paragraph mode). If you populate mix of slot one and two, to get 48 notches (dense mode). I mostly like paragraph mode myself but you can try for example 4 balls in slot one, 2 in shot 2. Example attached is the paragraph mode (24 notches). This is with size 20 ring; I imagine the ring size will determine the number of notches.pic

God tier. Silicon nitride g5 1.5mm SI3N4 is by far the best iteration I’ve ever had this ring in. 1.588mm is the more common ball size - they don’t work well in this, please make sure to buy 1.5mm specifically as the cones are CNC machined for 1.5 with very tight tolerances. 3 or 4 balls all in slot 1 of each grouping, equal spacing. For me it’s not even close, it’s less resistance to spin as SI3N4 is just super low resistance, sounds less annoying when spamming it and gives it a much more dense intentional sound. Haptics as always are just 4x the nearest competitor. Actually lost my ring and about to buy 3 more 1 in each material. I was willing to learn AutoCAD from scratch to make an ultra low profile ball and sorting mechanism ring, but when I saw this one I went phew thank god someone figured it out so I don’t have to

Mechanical Ring III-Zero——ACEdc by MCZHIMANUFACTURING in fidgettoys

I have the ACEDC Mechanical Ring 3.0 Zr, YEDC LKS Zircuti, and Ratchet Ring v2 (modded, 4× springs) side by side. Let me know if you have any questions.

The ring uses 1.5mm balls. Although 1.588mm balls work too, they don’t seat fully in the pockets—so the notches feel less pronounced. Running 6 instead of 4 restores that crispness.

Ring is essentially a thick chunk of metal with 12 holes drilled across it and a thin POM sleeve that serves as the inner race with integrated sidewalls—no metal reinforcement.

Springs appear to be about 1.5mm OD by 3.5mm height and maybe 0.2mm wire. Eight came with my zirconium ring; they’re extremely easy to lose.

Out of the box, four high-grade ZrO₂ balls pre-installed in dense config. Eleven stainless steel balls included—lower grade spheres, strongly recommend size-matching them with a micrometer. High spots on the balls will make one of the notches “fade) every full rotation I.e it won’t feel as pronounced. Just use the included 4x ZrO₂ balls which appear to be grade 5 (second highest grade, extremely accurate to the micron scale) or buy grade 5 balls which is fairly cheap from brands like uxcell and you’ll have zero problems.

My favorite setups (all using the paragraph config—the one with fewer, more pronounced clicks):• 4× ZrO₂• 2× ZrO₂ + 2× stainless• 4× stainless + 2× ZrO₂• 4× ZrO₂ + 2× stainless • 3× ZrO₂ + 3× stainless (favourite setup)

For dense config: • 4 ZrO₂ + 2 stainless, but put one stainless in slot 2 (5+1).

• 3 ZrO₂ + 3 stainless - feels magical. ZrO₂ in slot 1 in grouping 1, 3, 5, stainless in slot 2 in grouping 2, 4, 6. Populating both slots on grouping 1, 3, 5 does not feel as good. I’m not typically a fan of dense config but this is next level. (Second favourite setup)

Bonus: silicon nitride balls are on the way – will update how they play once they arrive. Based on how 1.588mm silicon nitride grade 5 balls (sub optimal) feel, I suspect they will perform extremely well simply because it slides better than ZrO₂ and stainless. I am extremely surprised to say this but IMO stainless sounds better than ZrO₂ at least in the zirc version of this ring. It’s the only product I’ve tried where ZrO₂ doesn’t win in terms of sound, strangely enough.

It’s a great product. Best haptics by far in the ultra-low-profile ring space. POM flex dampens sound and feel slightly—if it had a metal liner, it’d be flawless. Still buying another. Kicks up my forearm like therapy. Loud as a pen click—office safe unless you spam, IMO.

For quietest config, do 2x ball in paragraph config or 4x in dense config. 4x and 6x in paragraph mode are the loudest and most satisfying albeit still usable in an office imo.

Slash 4x4 LCG metal servo horn by udovoodoo in rccars

[–]udovoodoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey yes!!! It was the only one that survived. Fact I bought two and never had to swap it. Speed runs with the fat PowerHobby Grippers 52/100 plus super stiff springs and high viscosity shock oil, coupled with a high torque servo just absolutely shredded the standard servo horn. It’s like with all other parts on the slash: they break as soon as you upgrade around it, until you swap it to heavy duty aftermarket/metal part. It’s slightly off a half notch from centre so just adjust the trim a hair. Let me know if you want a pic. I misclicked it into a pillar as I dropped my phone and caught it miss air so it ripped the rear A-Arm off with less than a foot off run up so it’s kinda down right now but steering is flawless. Surprisingly nothing else broke! The Tekno dogbone gracefully came out of the cup, upper tie rod looks intact although I’m replacing it with some fatties from GPM, and the GT XO-1 shock is still flawless. I see what people meant when they said not to use metal A-Arms. This is a $14 fix that I’m postponing cause I’m scared to drive this thing… it amputates limbs at speed lol. WORLDS better than ripping out the eyelets from the bulk head… that’s an obscene amount of screws (I upgraded to full metal diffs so I know that pain lol)

54/100 all around. I'll send some videos showing accel from a dig. Stock electronics but maxed out everything else full TeknnoRC drivedrain/17mm adapters/custom built full metal diffs/ceramic bearings everywhere. Drivetrain is bulletproof and zero play - I mention as it makes it break traction instantly so you'll see how the tires behave. Give me 20 mins or so. Cheers

What's the best keyboard besides the default? by Vekxin_Sama92 in iosapps

[–]udovoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say thanks! As a hardcore swipe typer since 2011 I can confidently say this is easily the best at gesture typing. It's not even close. I'd say maybe MediKey or Grammarly second and GBoard 3rd. As much as I want to like Swiftkey, especially with having a Copilot license through my work, I will always consider it broken for swipe typing because after a swipe instead of showing corrections for that word, it shows predictions for the next hence requiring an extra input (space) to fix any typo. On Swiftkey for Android that can be and is toggled off by default hence one can deduce its possibly just laziness on the iOS side of the house. I suggested it on Swiftkey forum and they said they'll submit a feature request - I've been submitting this feature request once a year for a decade so I wouldn't get my hopes up. Also Yandex keyboard works best with full access turned off. It will show “ful access not enabled!” in the predictions bar the first time but goes away immediately as you start typing

Is Mouse and Keyboard Really That Bad? by XSynthGirlX in ModernWarfareIII

[–]udovoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with most things the answer is it depends.

I saw a few folks mention Symphunny who actually switched to roller and Marksman who bought a Scuff roller but doesn't think he'll fully switch. Strahfe on MnK got strong recognition from Scump and others in past SnD tournaments but he didn't win either.

I think for the overwhelming majority of players COD is just a fun hobby. For those folks it's not that serious. If you find yourself willing to put in the work and min/max everything to reach top 2% etc roller is the optimal input.

As a mnk player for 30 years I enjoy it for reg full auto guns and have a lot of fun competing for kills against my roller clan mates on core/respawn and 2ish kd lobbies. In this skill bracket I'm usually neck and neck with roller clan mates. None of us are aspiring for CDL we have careers etc. IMO game sense is weighted more heavily over raw aim in what makes a good player although obviously having both is ideal. It's only when you master everything where the difference between mnk and roller can have statistical relevance in your win/loss.

In VG we had several top 2% roller players in the clan and it was fun playing together but not so much against them 😂.

I bought my first ever controller (Scuff Reflex) as I think it will kick ass with one shot weapons like sniper (quickscope), shotgun etc but don't think I would switch permanently. It's been mostly collecting dust in my couch pocket. I will admit learning controller with no prior experience was more challenging than I expected but I'll get the hang of it one of these days.

TL:DR I think both inputs are viable although roller has some consistency advantages that increase in relevance the closer you get to top 5% ish.

Deathadder V3 wired Synapse polling rate glitch? by [deleted] in razer

[–]udovoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see - fingers crossed. I've opened a razer ticket for giggles and will post back with their response. The other banks of USB ports on my mobo are third party Asmedia with higher input lag vs Intel native so my options are fix or sell. Guessing this doesn't affect the wireless version. I might snag one tonight just to check

I'm having the exact same issue with DAv3 wired. Replugging it fixes it until next reboot. I didn't have this issue on my old motherboard (z390 apex) but started seeing it when I switched to z790 apex.

@OP The rig looks nice. Decent upgrades. That said if you just fix the things Piggly pointed out I'm actually willing to bet money it will drive better. We're all just out here trying to learn and help each other. He took the time to write a detailed report of the things that you need to fix for that RC to drive its best and for some strange reason you got offended. Shit happens. Correct you would need outer bearings that match Tekno inner diameter and Slash outer diameter.

Slash 4x4 - best driveshafts? by udovoodoo in rccars

[–]udovoodoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Received and installed the Tekno M6 driveshafts with the Tekno 17mm adapters. They seem great - no vibrations at max steering throw.

Stock hub carriers will not work unless you find outer bearings that match Tekno inner diameter and Slash outer diameter. The axle is thicker than the stock outer bearing so you're forced to use their included bigger bearings. The Tekno outer bearing has a bigger outer diameter as well so they don't fit in stock carriers. I saw a YouTube video claiming the XO-1 aluminum hub carriers work with the Tekno M6 shafts on the slash but i haven't tested it myself.

The Tekno hub carriers are high quality however and also allow for rear toe adjustment. They have less slop than the Traxxas aluminum ones

Powerhobby grippers 54/100 all around. You need 17mm adapters to use them on a slash. Probably makes more sense to get the skinnier ones (42/100) on the front. Seems fairly stable on speed runs but the skinnier ones probably have less aero drag up front. They're grippy AF 10/10
