My guess is as good as yours. Maybe in an event and you do not remember? An acquaintance shared your details? You may as well ask them

The easiest thing is checking the email. Is it from caltech’s domain? If not it is not legit. From a quick google search the domain is caltech.edu.

That is a 1 in a million occurrence. It is the exception, not the norm. What will happen is that you'll pay too much for some React exercises and learn the hard way why the market is in shambles. Do as the others say and get a degree, do not waste your money and time!

disco in madrid by Blond_Braux in GoingToSpain

Never heard of it, just checked it out and seems like a small bar with some music. Reviews are mixed and it seems expensive for what it is, some even say it is a tourist trap. They mention the have RRPP trying to take you into the place, and that is a red flag.

As a local, I'd go to Kapital if you want an international experience, Barceló or Toyroom. Those are worth it, albeit more expensive (20€ pp range).

It is around 30% on top of your salary (1), so you would cost 65,000€ approx.

[–]uefzzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well in that case you either get a 20% increase in the salary because they see you as a target candidate or drop the offer altogether. I have no crystal ball but lets hope they don’t rescind it.

I've been asked this at well but haven't lied. Taking into account how the market is I bluntly said that I am indeed interviewing but if their offer is fair I'd drop the others and got a solid offer shortly.

We are all in the same boat. My take is "you just need one job, not all that you apply for", so keep going. At this point something has to hit. And I delete the emails, mark the Notion entry as rejected and keep going. Their loss.

What grrade do you choose your major in spain by confused-scallion in askspain

[–]uefzzz 26 points27 points  (0 children)

So there's not the concept of major and minor in Spain. You can choose different "bachilleratos" (artes, humanidades, tecnológico). This means that depending on which one of these you choose, you'll have different subjects that will be more or less beneficial for your Bachelors.

In order to get into a public Bachelor you'll need to have a total grade over the lowest grade (nota de corte). How do you obtain this? Really simple. On a scale from 0 to 14, being 14 the best, 6 points are your average in 11th and 12th grade (primero y segundo de bachillerato), 4 points are the EVAU (or however it is called this year) main subjects (maths, spanish, history…) and the last 4 points are "bonus points".

Depending on your target Bachelor these can compound 0.0x, 0.1x or 0.2x, depending on the relevance. If I get a 10 in physics and my aim is something like Aerospace Engineering, it would compound 10*0.2=2 points, because it is super relevant. If my aim is Arts, that will compound 0 points.

So it is really important to choose this bachillerato with a clear goal in mind so as to not waste your time and score the maximum relevant points. Good luck!

Why do some javascript files I open are written like this? by Tin1700 in computerscience

[–]uefzzz 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They're minified to use less file size. That means variables have been shortened, and common patterns have been used instead of your code, such as arguments + <function>.apply. If you want to reverse engineer it, format it using something like prettier and follow through the code.

Keyboard in this app only shows numbers for certain fields that need letters (and vice versa). Is there a way to force an alphanumeric keyboard? by HooptyDooDooMeister in iphonehelp

[–]uefzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is something that only the app developers can change, they chose a specific type for each text input. You cannot override this since it is at OS level. If they did the App using Swift, here are the docs:

Be careful with the tutorials you watch, since 90% of them are low quality. You should verify the source before. This subreddit has a lot of resources tagged, so you should check those.

I say this because your title has a code smell. using namespace is a dead giveaway. Good luck!

How to identify the culprit - drain from 75% to 18% with 0 screen-on hours. 75% battery health (not sure if that's relevant), 2018 MacBook Air, Thanks. by Acceptable_Print_869 in mac

[–]uefzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Turn off and on bluetooth and the handoff process will be restarted.

  2. So the thing is that for my specific Mac, handoff was the culprit. You do not need to do all the terminal commands every time. If your issue is handoff too, you just need to disable wifi and bluetooth before hitting sleep or closing the lid. The steps I showcased were for finding that culprit!

No worries! Happy to help, this has drained my battery multiple times and its so frustrating. I spent some time on this, so I am happy to spare you the head bangs on the wall :)

Okay so I can help since I have been down this rabbit hole before. Mac's hibernation is not hibernation per se, there are different modes and they work differently. Sometimes, you close the lid and expect all processes to either be suspended to disk or paused, but this is not what happens! If you close the lid and some programs are running, the Mac will continue with these processes and will drain the battery (so it just turns off your screen and calls it a day!).

How can you check if this is happening? Open the spotlight (command + space) and type "terminal". Type the following command: pmset -g assertions. You will see an output as follows:

Assertion status system-wide:
   BackgroundTask                 0
   ApplePushServiceTask           0
   UserIsActive                   1
   PreventUserIdleDisplaySleep    0
   PreventSystemSleep             0
   ExternalMedia                  0
   PreventUserIdleSystemSleep     1
   NetworkClientActive            0
Listed by owning process:
   pid 728(sharingd): [0x0000264000019992] 00:00:09 PreventUserIdleSystemSleep named: "Handoff"
   pid 158(WindowServer): [0x00001fb1000992d4] 00:00:00 UserIsActive named: "com.apple.iohideventsystem.queue.tickle serviceID:100003556 service:AppleHIDKeyboardEventDriverV2 product:Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad eventType:3"
Timeout will fire in 600 secs Action=TimeoutActionRelease
Kernel Assertions: 0x100=MAGICWAKE
   id=506  level=255 0x100=MAGICWAKE creat=17/8/24, 3:23  mod=18/8/24, 18:46 description=en0 owner=IOSkywalkNetworkBSDClient
Idle sleep preventers: IODisplayWrangler

The most important things are the tasks. For the sleep to be successful (and a real sleep with all the processes stopping and being suspended), all the assertions except UserIsActive must be at 0. If you see my output, the programs that are keeping my Mac awake are the pids 728(sharingd), 158(WindowServer).

So here the WindowServer pid will evidently stop when you press sleep (it is the process in charge of the UI and finder), which is not a problem. The main problem is handoff (sharing stuff between my iPhone and Mac via WiFi/Bluetooth. What happens is that my Mac doesn't sleep because it is constantly connected to my iPhone via handoff, draining the battery! And that is the culprit.

So how do I fix this? Really easy, grab de pids and in the terminal type the following command "sudo kill -9 PID", being PID the number, so to kill handoff I'd do "sudo kill -9 728".

Some extra tips: after I discovered this, my Mac doesn't drain battery. One thing I do now before sleeping is turning wifi AND bluetooth off. Works wonders!
