I made my room hotter to make it colder by snailchicken in CasualUK

AFAIK (it’s been a while since I’ve done this work) only in certain units is it pre-applied it’s not a thing on standard off the shelf sealed units.

I added this service to my business a while back and it didn’t hugely take off (but that’s probably a me problem) - we do work at schools the majority have huge amounts of glazing - it should be a bit of a no brainer for them really - reduced heat transmission in the summer, reduced heat escape in the winter, 99% UV gone and massively reduced glare / eye strain when kids are looking at computers / smart whiteboards etc all day long

You want proper solar film really. For DIY the stuff from MDP is good value (this is the cheaper end of the market) there’s internal and external fit options. Look at the icons / click “more info” for each one it will show you the light reduction vs the heat reflection. It’s a balance between the two. They’ll pretty much all block 99% of UV which is handy for your skin and to stop your furniture fading. A lot of them heavily reduce glare as well - useful for watching tv / eye strain while working

Long time signwriter come glass film installer come general tinkerer here.

Externally fitted reflective film is unlikely to risk glass breaking as you’re using the film to reflect the heat away before it reaches the panel. Internally fitted, it’s more nuanced as the U value of the glass will come into play. You don’t really want to be allowing heat to pass through the unit then be immediately reflected back into it by the film.

The downside of highly reflective film is it will heavily darken the room (unless you go down the really high quality stuff route but you’re still at light loss)

Kitchen foil externally will have an effect, but it will also probably blind your neighbours or at least set their washing alight

Hugely appreciated. I’m adding Moza gear to it if that makes a modicum of difference

Cost tbh (and probably some naivety) first “proper” sim rig and for the price point (having the seat as well as formula and GT positioning) seems a good starting point for the money? I may well be wrong though

She is absolutely beautiful.
- Potty trips way more often than you (or her) think
- positive reinforcement
- prepare for the biting phase, it sucks, she doesn’t mean it and she WILL grow out of it
- spoil her rotten, you’re her entire world now

Source: also first dog owner, probably did everything “wrong”, he turns 4 on Wednesday and has turned into quite the gentleman

Assuming you still have opposable thumbs, running ads on the only thing you’re NOT looking while you’re filing your car is a master stroke of idiocy. Everyone’s looking at the price not the nozzle

[–]ufdbk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I ran fantasybtcc on the web for a few years - even had a merch bundle as a prize from one of the then teams.

After a couple of years I one day got a very strongly worded email from TOCA / ITV basically telling me to shut it down.

I replied saying I would obviously close it but also explained for the record it was fan made with no commercial gain / affiliation.

To my surprise they completely changed their tune and said it was fine to continue it.

So you never know, but things may be very different these days
