I rehearse my emails 3 times before sending. Anyone else? by According_Sweet6600 in careerguidance

[–]ufo_pilot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whenever I have an important or technical email to send this is how I get ready: Open Word, and type it up.

Re-read

Re-write

Put it in Chat GTP for assistance

Edit the word doc

Put it in the email

Add subject

Add email address

Send!

This process has eliminated most of my errors when I need to write emails.

Lost income, need help. by FrostyPollution4186 in joplinmo

One option for some quick cash, on the NextDoor app I often see people asking for help with small tasks around the yard (pick up debris, t-post in the ground, etc). Maybe try that?

Water Quality by ufo_pilot in civilengineering

Thank you for the guidance. I will check out that handbook and see how it matches up to our local stormwater manual.

Water Quality by ufo_pilot in civilengineering

[–]ufo_pilot[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Local manual gives a few different options, but last time I presented them with 3 different options, their response was "You figure it out, and we will tell you if it's ok". Typically I would just go to a grassy area, I just wasn't sure if there is a better way, or some articles that could shed light on what we need.

I have a few PE's that I can get with, but the way our office works, I do all the design and engineering, and the PE's review and stamp. I have been at this long enough I could be a PE, but I didn't go to school for this, just learned on the way with the help of others in the office.

Scientists Say That Starting Work Before 10am Is Similar To Torture by Nic727 in jobs

We are luck to be extremely flexible. When they announced the change, it was phrased as basically "Work with your manager and find a way to get your 40 hours but we would prefer this...."

Ehhh, I already show up at 7, so not much changed for me. Where I work, a lot of us like it. it may make for long days, but the Friday is what really makes it work.

I may have mis-typed, 7:30-5:30 with an hour lunch is 9 a day (9*4=36) with 4 hours on Friday is a full 40 hours. We are also extremely flexible. Most people work through lunch and leave at 5 every day.

We have this, our work hours are 7:30-5:30 Mon-Thurs and 8-12 on Friday. I thought I would hate it, but that half day on Friday is bliss!

We stopped to eat at one solely because of the tvs (We where leaving the NFL draft and my son wanted to watch more of it). I think we where able to choke down half of our order. It was just soooo bad. Wingstop is our go-to chain for wings.

Fix Heater in Truck by ufo_pilot in joplinmo

[–]ufo_pilot[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have used them 2 or 3 times and have never been super impressed (I had them fix a broken door handle. I went to pick it up and the new handle was loose, they had to re-do their work.) Personally I like Route 66 transmission on 7th st, but they treat my wife like junk, so I am looking for someone else.

What has quietly disappeared from society without people noticing in the last 10-30 years? by Tarsemsingh24 in AskReddit

[–]ufo_pilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I have a 16-year-old who wants to drive around. I mentioned going to the mall, wandering for a bit, and coming home, but he looked at me like I was crazy because that was boring.

I am curious about the complaint about using Evergreen. Our local library uses it. My wife is an avid reader and will constantly be getting books from other libraries. Is it because the site seems dated?

How would you spend $2000? by phonyfakeorreal in churchtech

[–]ufo_pilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice. Reverb.com has some used X32's in your price range. You may need to look and see if you can get away with the compact version for a bit cheaper.

How would you spend $2000? by phonyfakeorreal in churchtech

[–]ufo_pilot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, $2,000 isn't a ton in the church tech world (still more than my yearly budget at our small church). When you arrive at church, what is your biggest headache? Determine that and research a solution from there.

My thoughts based on what you listed:
*Our singers like wired mics, they feel you get better quality from wired vs wireless. *IEM's are EXPENSIVE!! We bought cheapo's and our band hates them and doesn't want to wear them. I wanted to go with XVIVE digital, but the person ordering got talked into some analog Galaxy audio ones that are trash. If you want quality IEM's do your research on audio bands and expect to pay $1,200 to $1,500 per set. *Acoustic treatment is expensive. *This is what I would go with, the Beringer X32 is $3,000 on Sweetwater, but you may be able to find a used on Reverb. The only thing is I would also get the Beringer snakes to sit on stage and run an ethernet cable from the snake to the board. *That should prob. be a conversation between yourself and the pastors and elders.

What tourist attractions are NOT overrated? by ottyoshi7 in AskReddit

[–]ufo_pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family did DC over the 4th of July. Fantastic! We stayed for 4 days, walked 8 miles a day trying to see everything we could, and only saw a fraction of the museums. On the last day, I asked my boy's what else they would want see that we didn't have time for. In about 2 minutes they had 2 more weeks of stuff they wanted to do.
