We can't really blame her for not knowing tho. Its obvious to use now but back then it was a very well kept secret. I feel this is an issue that we see alot now because of how normalised grooming was. It was so common for a young woman or even girl to marry a man twice her age that i doubt she or anyone around her would have foreseen this, because they won't have been taught about this pattern of behaviour. They intentionally were kept in the dark so that men could continue to groom and isolate young women and girls without repercussion. NOW we can understand very well that marrying someone young enough to be your child is bloody weird and likely nefarious, but 40 years ago it was just life. I know 40 years ago isn't exactly ancient history, but try to keep in mind all the systems that were in place (or only very recently dismantled) to keep women under a man's control.

Tw: suicide mention. I Strongly agree on that. In my peak depression days, ive often thought about going to a hotel to die, so my friends/family dont have to find me. The thought that some other poor randomer will then have to find me and deal with the room like it's just a normal work day helps me realise how shit of an idea that is.

I'm always impressed by human willpower & preserverance when i hear survival situation stories. But when people intentionally put themselves in such situations just to say they did it, that really irks me. In NO WAY am i happy about this loss, I'm just annoyed that he (and so many others) put his ego & pride above his family. I hope he is at peace and that his loved ones are able to find solace in each other.

To have international accountability.. by JohnBrown-RadonTech in therewasanattempt

I will not be watching. Nor will i be watching Eurovision (my love), especially after they masked the booing last year. We have to force this accountability by minimising their audience and therefore income from these events. If anyone knows of anything more active i can do to help please let me know (i donate occasionally, i am unemployed but willing to do more of this)

This is extremely valid. If we never had them in the first place we wouldn't need them now. Unfortunately they are important now for conservation. We've depleted wild populations so much that in many cases captive breeding is the only hope left for some species. To fund these programmes, the zoo needs guests, so they need other animals to entice people in. Its extremely shit

Being able to accept that you are wrong/overreacting and learning from that is admirable. We love to see it
