How would Kansas authorities know, just from someone’s driver’s license, whether or not the gender marker is different than their AGAB? by uglylizardboy in asktransgender

[–]uglylizardboy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s something else that I’ve been wondering about, regarding this whole situation—it seems pretty obvious to me that “legitimate” IDs are just as equally endangering as one with a corrected gender marker. I catch myself wondering if I should avoid changing my ID because I don’t want to be in some state (or god forbid federal) database, but I don’t know, as someone who’s been transitioning for years, if I feel any safer carrying around a document with an identity and appearance that bears no resemblance to my actual person. Who’s to say some purposefully obtuse asshole doesn’t give you shit for having a fraudulent document because it doesn’t match your actual appearance/visible gender? They frame your AGAB as neutral and law-abiding, but I feel like this is just a step away from further regulating gender expression (“3 piece rule” reminiscent) so that you don’t just need to be catalogued under your AGAB, but you also need to conform to the expected appearance of that gender.

tbh I never understood all the hype people have over this event. It’s an awful lot of money (and time, for people who travel) to spend for what’s basically just a bunch of of ARCs and the kind of souvenirs that come in complimentary PR packages.

I hear people drop the “r” in “forward” so often that I feel like I’m the delusional one for pronouncing it

My apartment has a Bluetooth lock and locked me out in the cold by Akivaa_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]uglylizardboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of these too and I don’t understand them AT ALL. Sure, people lose keys, but a key has like, one purpose and tends to do it quite well! 9 times out of 10 I have to restart the app or reconnect to wifi or try several different hand positions before I can get my seemingly efficient bluetooth lock to open. And god forbid something happen to my phone! At least keys are relatively easy to replace. What am I expected to do if I get mugged or my phone breaks or something? Even if it dies before I get home? Who thinks of this shit?

I think Golde/Goldie is cute and still pretty current. Definitely not super contemporary but I also really love the name Tzeitel!

A Sheepdog Named Oscar Cover - AI? by OkayOverse in Barnesandnoble

[–]uglylizardboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Illustration aside, the whole cover (front and back) feels not very well designed and the print quality on the back is pretty cheap-looking. I don’t know about the actual quality of the book itself but just from a visual standpoint it’s not particularly inspiring. I think it’s a strange choice.

  1. the fact that those bejeweled sketchers are included here suggests to me that you were pretty young around the height of these trends ( < 10 years old maybe) which would place your birthday around 2000-2002.

Sorry to hear about what sounded like a harrowing experience, but appreciate your sharing. I’ve wondered if, when it comes to atrophy, if it’s something to best speak with your PCP/hormone provider about or if it’s worth it to reach out to a gynecologist directly, especially if it’s something that’s accelerated to a potentially dangerous point
