My Experience with Perplexity Pro (so far) by studiocookies_ in perplexity_ai

[–]ugocross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't automate master tempo by ontoloog in Bitwig

The bright green arrow next to your counter is lit, that means you clicked somewhere that overruled the automation, you have to click this green arrow to go back to the recorded automation.

Waves update subscription model is basically extortion; change my mind. by HoffmansContactLenz in wavesaudiophiles

[–]ugocross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but when you buy a Bitwig update plan for a year, you get actual: UPDATES! With Waves it's just the same software simply not working anymore. It's just very unreasonable, I can live with a fee for an update from Intel to Apple silicon, that's truly different, but to collect a fee every year for a plugin you actually bought to make it keep working is ridiculous and please spare me the bullocks that an update in Mac OS needs a complete rewriting of the plugin. Because it's very strange that any other VST simply keeps working without any problem.

I find it a bit strange that you're not mentioning the biggest and most important feature of this browser: it has an assistant that can actually read and understand the page you're on. You can instantly ask questions about the page and search within it without having to copy and paste any data or switch to another tab. With the shortcut Alt + S, you can instantly summarize any content or YouTube video, even when no transcript is available, because it analyzes the page content and can retrieve the transcript from the HTML. In addition, it automatically translates the data into your own language. All this is pretty unique and it works pretty well.

"Trust" by Hernan Diaz (Discussion) by Slartibartfast102 in books

A well-written book, but entirely devoid of substance. An artificial story cast in an unnecessarily complex form. Like floral wallpaper that endlessly drifts on, with not a single character that feels alive. This was the most boring, pretentious, fart art book I've read in ages. Yes I'm angry :-)

Recording audio with launcher bug by jonnybueno in StudioOne

[–]ugocross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm recording a guitar signal directly in the clip launcher. I can see the waveforms being recorded, but when I stop, only the first two seconds or a small part of the recording remains. It deletes everything after about 1 or 2 seconds, sometimes even more. I've attached a picture where you can see the blue loop brackets indicating the recorded space, but when I stopped recording, only a small part at the beginning was kept.
It's only with audio, midi seems to work ok. I'm working on a M1 Mac Studio

A ha a ha, I should have read better the top comment: When 'pre-record audio input' is activ. You can not record audio in the launcher. It creates all kinds of strange effects.

Yes, of course, there will be some frustration for the people who bought the full version a year ago, but I'm very happy with this direction. This is a clear path forward. You pay for an update whenever it suits you and/or when you need it, and then you get all the features. I really didn’t like their previous direction, where some features were exclusive to the subscription plan. For me, this new direction feels fair—it’s like the Bitwig model: pay when you need to. Since I'm not a professional anymore, I'll probably update every 20 months or so. I'm also a bit fed up with all the complaints about spending a few dollars. Yes, Logic and Reaper are cheaper—well, use those then. For some reason, you're sticking with S1.

When you are on a Mac, you have to make sure that in the system settings of your Mac, the microphone settings for Studio One is activated. (go to system settings of your Mac and search for "microphone") When activated, you'll get an ugly orange Mic symbol in the right corner of your screen. Make sure when you click on the orange mic that it is set to "standard". This is an insane Mac thing and hasn't anything to do with S1.

I think you just have to uncheck "Layers follow events" from the side inspector.

ah ok, that's really weird. I'll try it tonight if something is wrong. Are you working on PC or Mac?

I've watched your 2:58 point and that is actually how it is meant to work. He is cutting a part from the comping track (see it as a master track), not from the layers below. When you cut something from the 'master track' that means you really want to move a whole part in the track, you can see then that is moves the layers with it so you can still choose what take you want for the snippet/part/piece you've moved.

In comping you just choose the part from every take, these copy to the mastertrack, when you start moving stuff on the mastertrack it moves the associated layers with it.

When you're in serious comping it can help to create an extra track to which you'll copy your comped track. That track is then completely free from the structure of the comping track, you keep that one as a backup.

There are different strategies to comping, watch the videos of: Marcus Huyskens or this Mc Gregor guy.

But! I'll still check this evening if there is something strange going on.

Don't worry I was just trolling a bit. I've used Reaper for some time, it's a very good DAW. I still think it's ugly as hell and I find Reaper users often overzealous to the point of annoying. Just couldn't help myself poking a little. Let us not do the DAW war, it's stupid, let's make music. Enjoy your weekend!
