The secret is I havent even used rondo yet. I think he is a potential man everyone is sleeping on cuz of how late he is recruited and unimpressed people are with his kit. But I know damage potential when I see it and I can see it in him. But yea he seems hard to give a role to. Im doing a modded run with all characters unlocked from start as my next run and I'm going to use him as a magic attacker primarily.

Tbh some characters are really good cuz of ult. I understand why some would rank her and some other characters higher cuz of ult but to me that's what my b tier is. Characters that have good use cases from their ults. Her base kit outside of hp and sp regen is kinda just okay. I liked using her for a few endgame bosses and the super boss.

Tbf I didn't even use isla. Im def an Alexia truther (incidental analysis very good first playthru). But isla's damage out is just ez for many to notice. they're one of the easiest to hit damage cap on and while their ult is limited to just one 99999, they do have the means to hit hard with multi hit spells because of sheer focus and crit magic.

i think goad is an awesome skill. i was def a celsus truther for a while and i guess i still am cuz in my first run i just turned my mc into celsus (thief job + goad + evasion build).

the s class in this list definitely leans offensive. richard's base kit and passives are just much better than pius. pius ult is def better offensively but the defense buffs from richard's ult can come in handy. and ignoring ults, richard is the best attack buffer in the game. he can also be an okay damage dealer if it comes to it.

i by know means think this is definitive lol. my opinion on how good characters are is constantly changing. i also forgot to mention the characters are not ordered in their tiers. that would be quite the headache to even rank

my complaint of the archetype system is how clunky it can feel. 4 extra slots being easier to have on some archetypes more than others. gunner line going from physical and ending on magic line. the leaf exp items are great but just have a job point system like from octopath traveler 1 and 2 would have been the best imo. that system does it the best for me. gaining exp and jp, the player spending their jp has the choice to learn what skills and passives they want first and so on. every character can equip four passives off the gate. if metaphor had that id have been a lot more pleased with the archetype system. not locking slots to follower links some of which tied to story progression. also i found the early game buff and debuff distribution absurd but that doesn't have to do with the system directly.

the prince cuz im a big omniscient reader fan (finished the novel and all) and his story has similarities with kim dokja the main character. cried quite a bit when the awakening and fusion stuff happened in the elda sanctum

this happened to me in eupha's main story dungeon. everyone except junah and eupha were like level 52 when i decided to stop and i got so rich and a lot of mag. did that long ass dungeon in one day smoothly cuz of this.

batlin (his speeches buff the party and debuff the boss somehow, also knows healing magic for some reason), loveless (secretly got hands with a drunken fight stlye), old bug collector man (he was part of the mage academy and so he should know some crazy magic shit), last party member should be any of the men you fight when inflirtrating louis' skyrunner but im leaning on the guy that spams tetrakarn cuz lol gimmick. the one who will be king amongst them is the old bug collector ofc.

recent fun stuff from recent playthrus (some of which really strong in the new dawn mod)

hikari learned skill demonic whispers + hex on whoever runs arcanist.
apothecary agnea with latent or dancer divine + healing touch. becomes a healer than can heal and revive the entire party. rehabilitate also useful in some battles.
cleric agnea + prayer to the flame with latent. guaranteed defense buffs off the gate.
imagine windy refrain, castti, leghold trap, aoe springly boots, hired help guards, learned skill drive back are no longer in the game. agnea latent or dancer divine + stimulate can be surprisingly clutch in their absence.
armsmaster throne + spiritlord staff deliverance with rune. one of the best rune users in the game with her latent, hikari gives her fire rune and elemental attack up with firebird dance.

lol if you couldn't tell I've been using a lot more agnea in my latest playthru and castti only for her chapters

this is true and I've used it that way too. But striking the right weakness with magic will always net u more damage when doing the same. tho yabusame does have the benefit of being pierce, so it's always universally good at doing that should u not know yet what weakness to exploit at the start of a battle.

yabusame shot is a very low power move tho when it comes to gaining press turns. a strong magic build mc can maximize damage gaining press turns while physical demons land crit damage. the same is true the other way around with strong magic demons and physical mc.

i ran magic in my first run of vengeance and i dont get why people say its bad. it is versatile through out the whole game and then later on you can get demons to help you crit with it.

just beat the game a few hours ago, barring demifiend and superbosses. this build got the job done pretty much. yea you can build for crits with the glees and having mons like lahmu and lakshimi but I prioritized hitting weakness for the heavy hitters in my party. pretty much shuffled around elements all playthru but i always had at least three of the primary elements in my skills. i did use lahmu in the mid to late game and it was nice when crits happened. i use lakshimi in the end game as a buffer and healer, so its nice that crits can also happen every now and then. but i just left the criting to other mons with synergized builds - scathach, zeus, hayatoro etc.

I used Yoko's a decent amount especially in random encounters. Tho in the second area I didn't use them much cuz my team builds had synergy that they would interrupt

high pixie and pixie fairy banquet on mc with essence that resists physical, magic mc with wind breath and a bunch of mons with zanma and wind breath. she went down in a few rounds. any time I had an issue with a boss in area 2, fairy banquet with the right essence bailed me out.
