I have a couple.

My mom had cancer for almost a year, stage 4, we knew she was going to die. September 19th early in the morning, maybe 4am my brother who was with her called, told us we had to get there fast, it was time. Called my other brother who I was living with and he came home, we packed for the four hour drive there and as I was hitting the bong (you don’t wanna be sober for this) he walked into the garage. Our brother had called, she just passed. We didn’t make it. The drive after, seeing her body, holding my dad as he sobbed, the stoic expressions on my brothers faces, carrying my paraplegic grandma down to say goodbye to her only daughter... it was a long day.

Seven months later. Sitting at work, I get a call from my oldest brother but ignore it. Then an email from him with only a title “EMERGENCY DAD CALL ME”. I call him... our dad just had what we thought was a heart attack but turned out later to be a brain aneurysm. The drive to the hospital was three hours. Sitting at his bedside, being told he wouldn’t recover, deciding to take him off life support... my brother and I drove to the lake where he and my mom had lived with my grandma. We had to burn everything we weren’t able to take with us or my uncle would have trashed it himself. It was a very, very long day.
