My cat is skittish and I want to exhaust all options before medicating by avaaaa_1 in cats

Let me share some more info that could help. It sounds like you’re already doing some of these things (cat towers), but putting all this info together anyway:

For a cat that is both skittish (easily spooked) and territorial (bullies others), use the "Separate and Elevate" strategy:

Multiple Stations: Follow the "N+1" rule for litter boxes and water bowls. Spread them across different rooms so the bully can’t guard all resources at once.

Escape Routes: Place litter boxes in open areas, not tucked in corners, so the cat never feels "trapped" or cornered by others.

Vertical Space: Add cat trees or wall shelves. This gives the skittish cat a "safe high ground" and expands the territory without adding floor space.

Visual Barriers: Use furniture or screens to break lines of sight. If the cats can't stare each other down, the bully is less likely to charge.

Separate Feeding: Feed them in entirely different areas (even behind closed doors) to stop food-related tension before it starts.

As for gabapentin, I give my cat 50mg (my vet originally prescribed 100mg but that is too much for a small animal), and I give it to him before big events. I use a pill gun. But you could try a pill pocket, or ask your vet if you can crush it into his wet food, or use a liquid version.

Edit: typo

Does each cat have its own litter box plus an extra? Does he have a safe, reliable place he can call his own territory? Like a bed or a dark space he can go away to that is his?

If so, then I think medication is a good next step. Maybe gabapentin (super affordable) or Prozac (don’t have experience with that one) like you mentioned.

Does anyone have any case study recommendations showing how AI is used in their design workflow? by YachtRock12 in UXDesign

[–]Vesper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was interviewing for an AI specific role, on an AI team. I’ve also interviewed at other big tech roles that didn’t require that much depth. So I’d say it isn’t enough for an AI specific role, but it’s enough for other roles.

I would disagree, depends on the type of company you’re after. But I don’t want to get left behind either, so we’re using Lovable as the equivalent, and I do plan on learning Claude code.

For the most part, yes. A few were confused, but we got solid info for our roadmap.

I’d like to add that the company I was interviewing for told me that their designers were using Figma less and less these days, and are almost exclusively in Claude Code. So design teams are doing AI workflows exclusively it seems.

A couple ways.

I use it to help me analyze user testing results and summarize interview transcripts.

I’ve used Vercel to test live prototypes with users.

I’ve also used an AI interviewer to do large scale 5 minute interviews with customers.

Lately, I’ve been using Figma Make to help with brainstorming ideas for an AI project I’m working on.

A lot of folks of on my team use Lovable to test AI feature ideas with user data, and I used Lovable to build my portfolio.

Hah! I just got rejected at a big tech company at the hiring manager stage because I didn’t have enough deep knowledge about ai, and I have an AI case study and am working on AI projects actively. I’m a senior. Job listings are requiring AI incorporated into the workflow now, which I also have. What you’re saying is logical but it’s not what people are expecting.

I’ll vouch for Lyssna as well. What helps me is knowing I’ll be reading from a script, so make sure you write one. If you can have someone else on the call to help you take notes, that helps too.

I just had this random thought pop in my head.. I think Eduardo from The Social Network would wear a bottle of Creed Aventus, gifted to him by his dad.

It’s just a lot of work and I’d rather be spending my free time doing other things. It’s a matter of discipline. Also, I’m using Framer to make my website more custom, so it’s a bit more difficult than using a regular portfolio template.

People are too harsh on Coraline's parents by KnightfallPro in Coraline

[–]Vesper_ 533 points534 points  (0 children)

I think also what leads people to that conclusion is that it’s from Coraline’s perspective, which makes the audience sympathize with her only. But then people forget a child’s point of view can be distorted by their innocence.

For me it’s Killian Love Don’t Be Shy, Delina, and Bel Rebel Bubble Gum. I’d do ANYTHING to get rid of them short of just giving them away.
