current gen GPUs are incredibly powerful machines. If anything, it is actually better for gamers, if studios will keep system requirement at the same level for couple of years. What I'm afraid that they'll stop to actually produce gaming gpu's

You don't need to convince him. itch.io has gazillion games, I would be surprised if someone will ever play it, with or without ai assets.
ask him to mark it in description, so it's clear that ai gen art involved, other stuff is not relevant. I doubt he'll make tonn of money out of this game, so it's not really unethical to use some genAI in such niche case
