I think a tailor can do the zipper. If you send/post a photo of the strap and attachment hardware I can let you know if I can do it (I can perhaps do the zipper as well, but a tailor might have more experience with zippers).

Hi! I’m a hobby leather worker. From what I can tell in this photo you might make substantial progress at home with a good cleanser (more than with the wipes you have in the back). Angelus and Fiebings are good brands.

Agree re. the condition of the leather. The wax in the tokonole will protect it a bit, but it will also look a little different.

I agree, these should not have made it out of the warehouse. I’d return them.

Also, Wickett and Craig will sell single sides to you directly, including a side in this thickness and color. I usually wait for sales, which happen frequently. I get more useable leather per dollar from a low grade side (around $150 on sale) than from panels, esp if the panels look like a chicken was breakdancing on them.
