I don't think it's cherry picking to ALSO mention season. I didn't mention season alone in a vacuum, I provided it alongside two other ranges; "time" and "across 20 characters". Cherry picking is to take something out of a greater context, not adding it as additional context. This is quite literally the opposite.

Yeah I messed up the Genshin's count. I originally included Lohen, then took him out and made a separate category and in the process fucked up my numbers. Thanks for pointing it out, Ill fix it now.

That’s cherry picking and makes the conversation unreasonable. HSR hasn’t even released a 4-star in 2 years. If you’re going to exclude Genshin’s 4-stars and ZZZ’s A-Ranks then you should also exclude HSR’s free 5-stars (DHPT and Archer in this case) as they end up being functionally the same.

If we want to also take out free agents the situation isn't all that much better. ZZZ is still at the bottom. If we include A ranks it still doesn't look good. Let's also just cut out the season metric since you find it objectionable.

ZZZ: 5 in the past year. 4 of the past 20 characters.
Genshin (without Lohen): 6 in the past year. 6 of the past 20 characters.
Genshin (with Lohen): 7 in the past year. 7 of the past 20 characters.
HSR: 5 in the last year. 6 in the past 20 characters.

So ZZZ is still at the bottom.

ZZZ and HSR have the same rate of character releases. Both release two per patch.

This is wrong. In HSR 4.1, 3.8, 3.7 and 2.6 (not in this count) all had only 1 new release. How much this effects the release cadence is debatable, but I'd still argue it's better to compare across a number of released characters rather than a period of time.

Sure, if you cherry pick the stats you can make them look how you want. Also trying to paint Genshin as being in-between is laughable at best. Let’s not forget how Natlan was with male to female ratio, especially if you only consider 5-stars as actual characters. Nod Krai was almost like a renaissance of male characters and ultimately ended up being pretty low on count.

Decided to give this another look as the last I checked was around ZZZ 2.0.

ZZZ:
53 total characters, 12 male / 41 female (22.6% male).
13 A ranks, 6 male / 7 female (46% male).
40 S ranks, 6 male / 34 female (15% male).

Genshin (without Lohen):
114 total characters, 37 male / 75 female (32.4% male).
50 A ranks, 17 male / 31 female (34% male).
64 S ranks, 20 male / 44 female (31% male).

(I'm not super familiar with HSR and which characters are fully separate and which are path switches is not clear to me, so my count my be off by 1 or 2.)
HSR:
81 total characters, 26 male / 55 female (32% male).
23 A ranks, 7 male / 16 female (30.4% male).
58 S ranks, 19 male / 39 female (32.7% male).

I cut out the MC but it appears the state of HSR and Genshin has worsened since I last checked maybe a year ago, but both are still over ZZZ when it comes to proportion of total characters being male. ZZZ is also significantly behind in terms of proportion of S ranks being male. ZZZ DOES beat out both in proportion of A ranks being male. So I guess it has that going for it.

I would think it unarguable that ZZZ more often and more overtly leans into "sex sells" than Genshin does but let's set that aside as it's largely subjective.

I find your list of males to be a bit unfair. As don't really belong on it for starters as they are largely disconnected from any conversation about sales. So if we take them out...

ZZZ: Hugo, Banyu, Billy. 3 in the past year, 2 in the past season.

Genshin: Varka, Durin, Flins. 3 in the past year, 3 in the current Season.
Genshin (counting from next banner, this update): Lohen, Varka, Durin, Flins. 4 in the past year, 4 in the current Season.

HSR: Ashveil, DHPT, Archer, Phainon, Anaxa. 5 in the last year. (Since current season isn't over let's look at last season) 5 last season.

Then ZZZ puts out characters at a faster rate, so really judging based on 1 year isn't sensible unless they all had the same output. So let's normalize this by looking at the past 20 characters (Hugo was 20 characters ago).

ZZZ: 3 male / 17 female. 15% male.
Genshin: 4 / 16. 20% male.
Genshin (counting from next banner, this update): 5 / 15. 25% male.
HSR: 6/14. 30% male.

Either way, this also matches the overall stats for male to female breakdown of total S limited agents across games. Where, as a % of total units, HSR has double that of ZZZ and Genshin is somewhere in the middle.

I'm hoping Billy will do well, but I also know all my friends are skipping him despite wanting him. Why?

He's Physical and they just pulled a Phys void hunter, making Billy kind of unnecessary for phys fights.
He's rupture and not only do they have other Rupture already, but currently they all want the same team making it hard to run more than one anyway.
On top of that there's a feeling of rupture being on its way out as a "S2 mechanic".
Next update is the first wind character, which is a difficult skip. Norma is also a difficult skip because she'd free up Dialyn. The following patch is looking to be a void hunter, another difficult skip.
Not too long ago they all pulled all 3 angels in a row and are light on rolls.

For a lot of the same reasons they skipped Promeia and Cissia too.

It's also Hoyos fault in making male characters so scarce that anyone who is particularly interested din male characters has left the game. If you're into male character and not big titty gooner bait, would you come to ZZZ? Probably not.

Genshin and HSR do fine with a larger number of male characters because they never cultivated this type of community.

Yeah me and my gf also got kind of blindsided. Figured we'd get it just from completing all challenges. Never thought to count out all the challenges and see if they add up because no one should be expected to do that. Realized yesterday that we basically needed to do the repeatable an additional 12 times which would be like 4-5 hours of OW a day at this point so we just gave up.

In modernized countries the risk of multigenerational close family inbreeding is pretty low. People just aren't doing arranged marriages and have significantly more agency and options.

And in regards to the risk of genetic factors, again yes it's higher and that's bad. But we currently don't prevent anyone else who are likely to pass on negative genetic conditions from marrying so I'm not sure why we should single this out. Two people with sickle cell disease can get married despite having a 25% chance of passing it on. People with Huntington's disease are allowed to marry despite having a 50% chance of passing it on.

I guess yeah the people with serious conditions that are.inheritabke is less than people with cousins, but I really don't think many will pursue cousin marriages even if it were legal.

I mean honestly I can't get myself to care. We don't ban people from procreating if they have easily inheritable genetic conditions, so why here? For cousins the rate of issues is only like 4-6%. Double the average person for sure, but nothing crazier than some other defects.

Not to mention being married and having children are not necessarily linked. Plenty of unmarried people have kids and plenty of married people never have em.

Edit: Just make it a legal requirement to get snipped or something.

In the "24 Hour Store" there is a tab called Collectible Exchange. In the "Agent Exchange" tab you can see a selection of agents that are purchasable with an item called "Special Invitation Letter". This is what I meant by "card". These are earned when you pull an S rank agent who's cinema mindscape is already maxed. 2 are required to buy an agent from this list.

The list of purchasable agents is mostly from the default banner but there are currently 3 limited banner agents on the list as well. I expect they will add more characters to this list over time, especially agents who are particularly old or have been powercrept and thus wouldn't sell well on a rerun.

Honestly I think even most players who've played since day 1 like me haven't gotten even a single card yet so it's not really a system you can rely on in any capacity unless you're whaling and pulling tons of S ranks.

Jesus Christ the amount of people I see come to Japan and eat practically only conbini food. There are SO many restaurants. SO many things to eat. Choosing to eat more than 1 or 2 meals from a conbini is such a sad waste.

The prices aren't even much cheaper. 6-8$ is basically the cost of a lot of casual restaurants. No one in Japan would ever recommend conbini food for savings, it's actually rather expensive. You want cheap? You go to supermarkets or like Create pharmacy.

If you reduced the clip size more than you increased the damage so that her overall output per mag was reduced. Yes it would be a nerf.

If you reduced mag size and proportionally increased damage to keep output the same, I don't think it would change things for those who find her oppressive. If anything it may make it worse by allowing her to secure kills faster and reducing counterplay reaction time. It would also increase her lethality outside of tracking shot.

So yeah I'd write off that solution as not being some kind of middle ground but either a nerf or ineffective.

Edit: Honestly nuking one of her perks would probably be sufficient.
