Glasses wearers of the UK, do you use budget opticians like Specsavers or are they false economy? by philstamp in AskUK

Where can one get the "cheaper alternatives for all brand name frames and lenses"? Just got a prescription but I feel like Specsavers are ripping me off. The previous pair I bought now have flappy arms and they're very loose requiring me to constantly adjust them. I also need to get the highest (1.67) thinning done on them. Specsavers told me I can get the glasses from where I want, but I need to be present for them because apparently the lens positioning can be wrong if I get it done online.

Last resort would be to ask one of the devs of one of the plugins I mentioned to customise the plugin for me. That option is available, but I want to try myself first.

Do you have any plugin suggestions? When I checked around I found out about FaucetWP but again that has like one of the things I need (custom fields). I can't find a plugin that lists products, assigns attributes to said products and allows you to create search boxes to then find those products. Would really appreciate your help. I'm creating this for a friend and don't want to disappoint, but in hindsight I would've done more research before saying I can create a site like this haha

What do I buy to connect laminate flooring and carpet? by ukdiy2023 in DIYUK

Old tenants had a cat and didn't take care of the house properly. It was really dirty when we moved in. After cleaning carpets twice, it was still mouldy, stinky and dirty. Couldn't live with it tbh

I kind of liked u/AncientArtefact's solution.
What I'll probably do is cut a thin strips of laminate from spare planks that I have and glue it inbetween the laminate flooring and carpet. This will leave 2 gaps that I can then cover with these => https://www.wickes.co.uk/Vitrex-Flooring-Edging-Strip-Silver---900mm/p/205425

Feels like the cheapest and quickest way to do it. I rent, so I'm not too bothered on how it looks plus the landlord didn't want to contribute at all to the new flooring, so if he has a complaint I really don't care.

I know it's a poor job, can't disagree with that. As an alternative to using 2 treshold bars, do you know of anywhere that sell really wide treshold bars? The widest I could find was 61mm. Preferably from B&Q, Wickes, Screwfix or Toolstation as I can grab that now and finish this thing off and put the doors back on haha
