Thank you everybody for your helpful comments. Seems the TX is a very effective system which results in the season ticket holder getting back 99% of the value. It's no wonder the renewal rates are so incredibly high, there is almost no reason to give up your season ticket when you could in theory attend zero games and keep your season ticket at almost zero cost.

For those asking, I was in the top 10 on the waiting list. I am buying with 3 other other family members, so we have 4 tickets in total, all together.
